Seriously Considering a 2006-2007 100 series

In general EP is an overlanding forum where function usually trumps sexy fancy bits but here's a preview of the build

Dood...please...no one on Expo over the age of 17 posts up what they "plan" to do to their truck....only what they did. BTW, LR3 + $20K in after market parts = Victoria's Secret on a pig....

Aside from being incorrect in your statement of what people on EP post, you misread. I listed the completed items, then one single item "planned".

Back to the original topic...

I have an 06 Hundy with AHC. have daily driven it for four years after spending 6 or so years in a locked and lifted 80. The 80 was the follow-up to a Canadian spec BJ60... There have been some sort term stints with an FJ60 and an FJ62. I also own an FJ40 in reassembly stage in the garage. (Not a cruiser novice...)

Of all these cruiser the 100 is by far the easiest to live with on a daily basis. Ultimately not as off road capable as a locked 80 series but with a decent set of tires will get into and out of places I am not willing to go in a $30K truck.

I have driven a 200 and can say without hesitation that it has more power, more bells and likely more capability at the limit. I can also say that in 60 thousand miles of ownership Atilla (the HUNdy) has only shown one weakness... That is in braking. Installed a Stop Tech big brake kit early in year 1 of ownership and have never looked back.

I actually considered a 2006-7 LC several years ago prior to the RRS. I ended up with the latter as it was really hard to find a former that wasn't beat to death by soccermoms. I'm definitely on the anal-retentive end of the scale when it comes to condition so please consider my decision making process w/ a grain of salt.

that may be the first time ive heard this....

exactly what do soccer moms do besides carry a couple kids and get dealer service?

id say the 100 is the best all around truck, albeit by far the most boring.

im sure the 200 has improvements, but i dont know if ill notice them. the lx470 has been wheelled, lifted, loaded, and hammered and still doesnt creak with 180k on the clock. it even rides nice without the AHC. the leather looks good, the dash looks new. if this one dies, ill just find a soccer mom 100 and start all over.

I am sure he meant how the interiors get treated due to the "service vehicle" designation that parents, my own friends included, seem to turn their vehicles into after the 2nd kid arrives. They are simply too bust managing more important things than to worry about scrapes, dings, spills, etc. Thus, the interiors get "trashed". Conversely, some overlanding types seem to really care for their equipment and take measures to keep it from getting trashed inside even there are dents and scrapes outside.

Is that list in order? Why are you in the lx now versus the G. Well, it depends a little on the G model. ?
