So I want to import a Defender...

I'm looking to import a 1989 Defender 110 Military Wolf version, late next year. Do you think this would be an issue? It is stock from how it was delivered from the factory. Its 25 years old and military stock, I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to import. It would be similar to this one pictured

Late next year, a 1989 vehicle will most likely be 25 years old. Check the actual vehicle build date to make sure.

That's very odd.. I was quite sure the Wolfs, both TUL and TUM/ WMIK were 300Tdi, which wasn't placed in Defenders til mid 90s. Are you positive it's an 89, or a Wolf?

It's entirely possible that there are ex-MOD 1989 Defender 110s, but the Wolf was not introduced until 1996.

Its defiantly an 1989. It may not be a Wolf, but its defiantly a 110 that is ex-military and will be 25 years old when I import it. It doesn't have 300 TDi but the i4 Turbodiesel

Should be good to go then!

Hmm.. that's odd, I was pretty sure ex-MoD trucks used the 2.5 NAD, not the 2.5 TD. If the engine has been changed to a turbodiesel that wasn't original, you could have issues.

That's a Project Tithonus vehicle - known as Project Tinnitus to all MoD personnel. It was a vastly overpriced make over that the MoD were suckered into by Hobson Industries in a very clever marketing ploy

If you want a decent MoD vehicle contact Kev Mills at Witham Specialist Vehicles - they have a good website and it will be genuine AND he can make sure you have the history/accurate details

Cool site. 90 LHD Wolf's - too bad they can not come in...

I don't think that's a Tithonus. The roll cage is different, the front end is quite different, and the seats are different. That looks like a standard FFR/troop truck that was hacked up.

For comparison, here is my 87 Tithonus ex-MOD:

It looks like a special desert patrol vehicle or similar. Winch bumper is very unsual for a MOD Land Rover, and the cage looks like it has a turret incorporated? There is definitely a turret on the right front door post. It has a good amount of FFR equipment as well.

The right side wing air intake is not normal for a late 80's spec vehicle either. It is in the 300tdi/TD5 location.

On further investigation the 110 pictured is without a doubt TD5 spec

Air intake, headlight panels, grille badge (green/gold), "Defender" on front, front drive flanges, no storage locker on side.
