Yeah I used to go to Cour'de'lane every year on our way through to Helena MO. We'd stay in the old Pine Tree in on the west side of Town. That place has CHANGED in the last 20 years since I was there often. Boy how it's grown.

Let me know man, my summer is wide open right now untill Permits start coming back and we see where I'll be and when...

Cheers

So, it's been a while since anything has happened on the 4Runner...
Replaced the rear, rear u-joint, PO had 2 bolts holding the driveline flange onto the 3rd member, went ahead and added 2 more, like there is supposed to be, random vibrations went away, CRAZY!
Doing the front brakes this weekend, nothing exciting. The top has been off for a while because of the 90degree weather!
Been camping a lot, and that has made me realize that I need, 1, stout brush guard. 2. rear bumper with receiver to haul my bike around.
SO plans for those will start here real soon, in the meantime some body damage repair, fiberglass top gasket repair and a few things!
Keep checking in!
Thanks!

I hear 'ya on the driveshaft bolts. I started noticing a strange vibe that started at about 45 mph a while ago. I crawled underneath and all four of those driveshaft bolts were completely loose. :Wow1: Tightened 'em up and the vibe went away. That's spooky that you were only running two.

Sorry for the lack of updates, landscapers only have a certain amount of time to make their money! :coffee:

I was wondering if any 1st gen people have had this problem, I've tried to take pictures of it but it never works out, I'll try again tonight. Anyways, the door trim around the door frame like to pull off if it gets brushed, touched, anything! It bends outwards and never seats correctly after that! Not a total huge issue, just really bugs me!

Do you mean the black rubber seal around the outside of the door? Yep, mine likes to come off too, especially when thing's are icy. Then the rubber seal will get stuck to the truck and stretch out like a rubber band when I try to open the door.

Those little holes in the rubber seal that go over those little T-shaped plastic fasteners like to rip big enough so the fasteners pull right through. A new door seal would fix it, but I just use a little tape or glue.

I'm actually talking about the trim, on the inside of the door frame. I got a picture of it with my phone and I'll upload it a bit later. Thanks for the advice though, my door seals are falling off on one door anyway :ylsmoke:

I need a new rear bumper, hardly have the time to fab my own up right now... So I've decided to buy one. I am leaning towards this TAG multi-carrier rear bumper, without the swing gate, just the receiver and tow points and side pieces to get rid of the plastic side pieces...

Someone has to have experience with these, how strong are they, worth the money, look good overall?
I want a nice fabbed rear bumper out of plate metal, I've looked at the tube bumpers that some companies build, and they look cool and everything, just don't really hit home with me.

Anyone else know of a better bumper money, strength and quality wise? I'm not looking to spend over $500.
If all else fails, I'll go down to a local fab shop and see what they say!

Little progress.
Ordered a manual hub swap kit from WabFab, should be here pretty soon, and rebuilt the basket for my truck, getting ready to permanently mount it on the top of my truck.

Another update, don't know if anyone is following this thread still or not but it's nice to have for my own documentation!

I ended up not ordering a rear bumper, I was over at a buddies house and he had one on his wrecked 1990 S10, so I pulled it off and it was the easiest thing to mount up! Looks stock and it's real heavy duty with a receiver built into it!

I also am debating pretty hard as to whether I should permanently mount the basket I have on Yakima bars onto the fiberglass shell of my truck, any thoughts? I fabbed up feet that will have quick release pins in them to take the basket off when I don't want it on, but it's the initial drilling holes in the top I'm apprehensive about...

I would go through the sides instead of the top.....the top is not as solid and is more prone to cracking.

the way I have it offers great flexibility and a quick release method to keep aerodynamics nice for dd.

the rear mounts were on the truck when I bought it and are yakima universal gutter mounts. I wouldn't buy them since it's easy to fab up a gutter like my front ones. Basically take some flat stock (I used 1/8" or something close as I had it laying around) and then take some 1/2" angle iron and weld it to the flat stock. Drill two holes and viola gutter mounts.
