STAY AWAY from ALCAN SPRING!!!!!!!!

I called the shop directly. I even talked to the owner directly when ordering.

Ok thanks.

Just seems odd he didn't want more exact info. Would like to hear his side.

Not that I am picking sides..the whole thing seems kinda weird, perhaps some lost in translation?

Looking at your camper, seems like you have 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag. :ylsmoke: You might need more than springs down the road. Like a bigger base vehicle.

So how did you pay for these crappy springs? Credit card, moneygram, western union?

I hope Alcan bucks up and fixes the springs. Sounds like they made standard toyota truck springs with 2" lift and not for the motorhome.

As for the dually conversion...this will not increase the legal gvrw of the vehicle!

Sounds like it, maybe he mistook motorhome for camper shell...maybe Alaskacreeker said camper instead of motorhome while talking to the owner, who knows?

I was thinking he may have mistaken it for a Chinook which looks like it would weigh considerably less that what the OP has but this is pure speculation only part

A 7000 lb. Toyota with a camper shell?

We have no idea what the owner heard. Only the owner can tell us that. So far we have only heard one side of the story.
It just seems odd that Alcan didn't request specific weights of each side, if they new it was being specced for a motorhome.

Like I said I am not taking sides, but we can't come to a conclusion without hearing both sides. Perhaps both parties are at fault, or maybe they aren't...who knows for sure.

And why is this thread in Fullsize and Domestic anyway?:ylsmoke:

I agree with the both sides thing, but the owner of Alcan has apparently confirmed the original poster's facts, according to statements on this forum and on IH8MUD.

Still haven't heard it from the horse's mouth though.

I haven't read the thread on mud though.

His silence on the matter is an interesting fact in itself.

Does he even know this thread or other even exist?

I own a business, and sure people will be unhappy at times, and sometimes I don't find out to months after the fact, sure I'll try and remedy the problem
, but sometimes some will never be happy.

I am wondering if there was some lost in translation happening, because I know it happens in my business...not often, but it happens. Hey we are human after-all.

Yep, he knows this & the other thread exist. I told him about this thread and told him I would have a different opinion of Alcan Spring if they would fix the springs, but I still haven't heard back...

Seriously? I really appreciated your predicament and thought perhaps a little slack could have been extended to you, but now you resort to extortion to get your way?

Nothing like threatening a vendor with the old "forum shakedown" to get what you feel you deserve. I doubt you will hear back.

Well, I don't know what to say. At this point, I feel like this might all be a lost cause. I had already given up on Alcan fixing my springs, providing a partial refund, or even sending the bad ones back. I have nothing now.

Yep, I didn't call Alcan before I sent the springs back. That was my only mistake. They didn't ask the proper questions when they built the springs for me, even though I specifically told them the springs were going on a Toyota motorhome with additional weight (such as kayaks, gear boxes, bumpers, etc).

I told them I would have a 7,000 lb load once I got the rig fixed up. When I put the Alcan springs on, the rig weighed under 6,000 lbs (I hadn't added ANY modifications yet, bone-stock). The ALcans didn't even come close to holding up my motorhome. I have proof of this, & sent it to Alcan 2 days after I sent the springs (they received the email & pictures before the springs arrived).

The mechanic that installed them shook his head and said they "look like normal Toyota truck springs, way too light."

Anyway, I have nothing now, so you better believe I'm letting people know my experience with Alcan. I personally told the owner I would have a better opinion of Alcan if he at least fixed the springs, but he never even responded.

I'm not on here to bash Alcan, I'm on here to let people know I was given a bogus product by Alcan & they won't fix it.

Wrong. You are doing your best to bash ALCAN on this forum and on another forum, IH8MUD. You've cloaked yourself in the mantle of an innocent consumer by taking a passive-agressive communication technique to attack this company and align opinion with yours.

This is not a court of law and we've seen no statements from ALCAN, so regrettably for you it's your word against theirs. If you feel that strongly than there are other legal actions you can take much more effective than this "trial by forum post."

Stop the wounded lamentations, and do what you claim to have done already... lesson learned and move on with your life.
