Stock JK Spring Rates

I have a 2008 X model 2Dr JK. I put on a AEV Front bumper and Warn winch. I dont want to add any height to the suspension or add bigger tires. Are the Rubicon spring heavier duty or do i need to upgrade to aftermarket springs to compete with the heavier load. I am looking into loading the jeep with gear for backcountry trips and want to keep it as stock as I can without having to upgrade with aftermarket SUS, Gears, tires and such. I want to keep the stock height but be able to pack gear or parts in without the jeep sagging to much.

I would highly recommend an OME medium kit for your Jeep. You will gain about an inch in height with the modifications you list. The shocks alone will greatly improve the ride/drive/control.

Fox shocks are top of the line (as well as their steering stabilizers). I'd recommend those...although they are a little pricey.

I took a 2 inch Budget boost and stock springs out of a 4dr Rubicon. and it lifted my 2007 2d X with soft-top about 3 1/2 inches. My guess it that a 2dr X will get about a 1 inch lift with 4dr Rubicon springs. It must be 4dr springs. I have read that the 07-08 JKs have about 22 differant part numbers for springs.

Note, the ride is a lot rougher then I would like. I will be replacing the Rubicon springs with my stock ones and just uses the 2" BB. I think if i had a Hard top and aftermarket bumpers it might ride nicer. I'm just too light for the springs.

x2 on the Rubi Unlimited springs -- I wheel with a guy who did this to his 2dr with good success... not sure he saw much lift from it, but he did mention that they are stiffer. Plus you should easily be able to score a set for free since people replace them left and right.

btw, first post... hi...

4door rubi springs on a 2dr

I have done this mod and am quite happy with the results.

about an extra 1" of lift
I have a 2007 2dr rubicon with:
2.5" BB teralfex (net 3+ with springs)
Body Armor front bumper w/ Warn Power Plant.
Body Rear tire carrier w/ high lift and 2 jerry cans
Wild boar roof rack with a ARB tent mounted on top
hard top

The 4door rubi springs make up for the extra weight and keep it from sagging. The slightly stiffer springs make little to no difference with all the extra additions.

If you think about it my GVW is close to that of a 4door when fully loaded.
this is a nice cheep upgrade to your Jeep. I have no idea if the front rubi springs will fit your D30 axle though.

As stated there are 22 spirng rates as follows:

rubi 4dr auto hard top = stiff 0 (this is what is on mine)
rubi 4dr auto soft top = stiff -1
rubi 4dr manual hard top = stiff -2
rubi 4dr manual soft top = stiff -3
rubi 2dr auto hard top = stiff -4
rubi 2dr auto soft top = stiff -5
rubi 2dr manual hard top = stiff -6
rubi 2dr manual soft top = stiff -7

and so on and so forth down to

x 2dr manual soft top = soft -22

You may also want to try the shocks I have a set of 4 door rubi shocks (they are different part numbers) shocks but have since switched to Teraflex shocks.

To keep things as "stock" as possible and still be able to do what you want, I'd agree with Scott and go with Old Man Emu. I have a couple buddies with JKs that have OME and love it. I drove from Alabama to Olympic National Park, Mt Rainier NP, Glacier NP, Yellowstone, Grand Teton and back- over 7000 miles- this summer in an 06 TJ with OME springs and shocks. Handles as well on the highway as it does off-road. Not a "monster mudder" but very good highway manners and great on the trails.
