This week I was starting to lose hope that Scotty's (Burl40) personal trailer would be recovered.
I am blown away by the breadth and scope of the community on ExPo. You represent the most generous and intelligent outdoor enthusaist forum on the web. Thank you for letting us be a part of it and thank you for all of your help in its' recovery. YOU ROCK!
This trailer has a story, much longer than the one told here as TacoChaser eluded to. Yes the chassis is #1. Our original prototype chassis for the Chaser series. It has been to the Arctic & back under the skillful guidance of Scott Brady. After the Arctic, the frame was swapped out so that Scott could test our upgrades on what we like to call around the shop Chaser 1.1.
#1 Chassis took on new life after being updated with new suspension hardware, sand blasted, re-powder coated. It was going to be used for our new prototype clam shell design. Another trailer had been loaned to the Feral Green Project. The trailer was rolled by Feral Green in a late night inclement weather related accident in Panama. The body & tent totaled.
After it was shipped back from Panama, only the nose box from the Feral Green loaner trailer was usable. We mated it up with a new body and the updated chassis #1, simply because we didn't have a new nose box one at the time. The one and only Serengeti tent was fitted to it because it is Scotty's favorite. Since Scotty had put so much love into this trailer over the years we felt it should be his. It had only one fine 3 day trip behind Scotty's FJ 40 on the Mojave trail before being abducted.
After this latest episode in Chaser chassis #1's history, I am beginning to think we should rename it the Phoenix.
