Stump, I think I'm going to plagiarize your navigation system on my new truck (also doing taxes this weekend, our return will be the down payment) using my netbook. With software, the receiver, a RAM mount, and a 12v charger for the computer I'll be right at about $250 which is what a nice GPS costs but the coolness factor of this makes it superior.

I hear ya man, its a cool set-up for sure. What software are you getting? Delorme seems to work best for downloadable, but its not cheap. The maps are very nice though.

I was thinking Delorme Topo NA. Way back in the day I had some Delorme software for printing maps and I liked it then.

Shoot, I dont even remember, and any numbers that were on it are long gone. That stuff came over from my old Toyota, so it has to be close to 6 years old. It was an ebay special, and have had zero issues with it. Same for the monitor, I think I have $150 bucks in the whole set-up?

Finally got a chance to wrap this thing up... Cleaned everything, and snapped a few pics. Hope to get the lights remounted tonight.

Thats looking great Stump. I'm really diggin the light rack. I'm planning on redoing my roof rack and doing something similar with a light rack.

Just a quick update,

Just installed a net for my rear cargo section, I was hoping a tailgate net for pick-up trucks would work...so I just bought one from Oreillys for 22 bucks.

Works great! This is mostly to keep the dogs out of my daughters face when they are in the rear. They can get a little overwhelming, especially since my kids face is usually coated in a food of some sort.

Sorry if I missed an answer to this question, but whats the idea/reasoning behind the cage?

Had the chance to weight the truck yet after the case install to see how much extra weight it added on?

p.s. Does look good thou... real good...

Keep the family alive in the event of a roll-over.

Stumpy wheels anywhere and brings the wife and baby. They strap in, don't drink/drive, but it's not all Yogi Bear parks. Some of these trails in GA can roll you or spill you down a little cliff.
It was a labor of love.

Nikson, what Bill said pretty much nails it.

The weight added is around 380 pounds +/- based on the linear footage of various sizes of tubing used. I just want to have fun on the trails with my family, and ease my mind about how shoddily the cherokee is built when it comes to low speed roll overs....which are inevitable if you wheel long enough. The external portion is more about body damage control more than anything. There are lots of big tight trees here in the South, and rubbing against one doesnt bode well for the thin sheet metal. Im not fooling myself into believing the body would survive unharmed in a roll over, but my family should, hence the internal tie-ins. Jeeps are replaceable. I'd also be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the mad max look...just a little. :)

Staring, pointing, sometimes laughing or shaking their heads... when the zombies come, and I roll over the top of their civics to get out of Dodge, i'll have the last laugh.
