How do tents like this seal around the car? My girlfriend would go insane about creepy-crawlies coming in. She even made me seal the holes in the RTT where the hinges are with pieces of foam.

It just tightens down with straps. I don't think the seal is very good.

We've been using ours on our Tacoma for 2-3 years now, never seen a bug, and it has held up wonderfully in Newfoundland winds and rain (come see for yourself - if you can make it here...)
They have elastic around the seal, and straps to tighten.
Then again, we like spiders...

It isn't an air tight seal, but more then good enought to keep out the bugs. Now there is a door there that you can zip up to completely seal everything but you are cut off from the vehicle.

Pictures from the trip, had a blast and only had to air down to 20psi and the WRX ran beautiful. I figured out that it like 20mph (push sand) or like 33mph (float on top). Need to head back when it is warmer.

I need to ask, what is your real world MPG when your loaded up for a trip roof rack and all...
I am starting to think I might migrate to this sort of setup in the next while and am curious what to expect since I would pretty much do exactly as you have done here.

That is basically my ideal set up! You should take to primitive racing and get the winch mount. Nice rig!

My SG Forester never would have made it through that, thankfully we have the SF for that stuff 
It was built for "other" purposes, though I bet you wished you had the power mine had 340hp/385tq

Given the lift and aggressive tires and rack I went from 19-26mpg to 16-22mpg.
If you want to play you gotta pay....no getting around it..

I used to crew for Primitive for years..
I make my own stuff.
A 8,000lb winch is minimum in due time...

Ha ..I've schooled sti's in my N/A cars....they can't handle offroad or rally roads for that matter unless they have a rally setup..
I can flick my N/A Subarus just fine...thank you
