Rip, glad you like the pouch. No problem, being around the corner from Tepui, your shipping was cheaper.

Cwadej, the air flow from a weave mat is the key in greatly reducing condensation. I say greatly reduce because in my experience even with a weave AC mat, you will some condensation on the platform. Although pop'ing the ends of the mattress up with the doors open has always dried it up on mine in about 1/2 hour.

It's a Sea to Summit field replacement buckle. It's got a little screw in it so you can install it quickly instead of needing to pull everything apart and start sewing.

Here's the buckle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product//B00BTO3H42/ref=twister_dp_update?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=viglink20599-20

I used the 1" 1-pin version. Just finished replacing all the Velcro parts with buckles, and I'm super happy I did.

What about the rest of the strap you used...all of the parts other than the buckle, like the webbing and the brackets with the three screws in them? Where did you find those?

I reused the existing straps, just replaced the Velcro and D-ring with a buckle. Didn't even have to take the straps off. The old Velcro was so worn out that I just ripped it off the strap by hand.

Crap! $10/buckle? Wow!

If you look at the other offers for the buckles on Amazon, you can usually find them for $5-$6. Check out local sporting goods/outdoors stores first, they'll probably have them.

I found mine locally at a store called "Atmosphere" owned by Sport Chek for $5.99/buckle

Changed out all the nylon strapping with biothane, added fastex buckles to side straps, removed all zipper pulls & replaced with paracord, re-waterproofed all fabrics including flys.

I redid my cover straps. Got the materials from Strap Works.

I may have something else in the works for the RTTs to post up.

What did you use to re-waterproof? I have a bit of seepage around the seams, and I'm not sure which waterproofer is best.
Thanks.

I used Starbrite waterproofing with PTEF. I got it at West Marine. My buddy is the manager and he recommended it. It wasn't the cheapest but it seems to have worked quite well.

Hey guys, I just found (and ordered) some "repair buckles" to convert the RTT Velcro strap issues like wreckdriver did. You won't believe the price:
.
http://wardenssupplyco.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=582
.
USMC surplus. I ordered 3 sets so I can have extras: <$8.00 for all 3. The shipping cost more than all 3 sets! 2- 1", 2- 1.5" and 1- 2".
.
HTH!

Very nice!

I was looking at using the new Rustoleum NeverWet to improve the waterproofing of the canvas, since parts of mine mine get soaked through in long or heavy rains, but I haven't read the best reviews. I'll definitely be looking at the Starbrite.

wreckdiver, I have to say "Thank you!" I got the webbing clips in the mail yesterday, and I himmed and hawed about getting into doing the buckles, not knowing what to expect. Well, I think I had the first strap apart (buckles and Velcro) in about 2 minutes. The second one took me 1 minute.
.
Now it is just a matter of unbuckling the straps instead of fighting those blasted D-ring buckles and the Velcro! Now I have to do the same with the 1" straps for the tent itself. I just have to figure out the best way to lash the strap ends to keep them from flapping around. Any ideas?
.
I did do a little something extra with the straps, I made new webbing hold-downs out of 1/8" stainless steel to replace those .064" aluminum ones the tent came with. Talk about a LOT more secure! I'll get some pics in a couple of days....
.
Again - Thank you Thank you Thank you!
