Surprised no one is discussing the Cybertruck today.

It is absolutely zero consideration in my mind. Vehicles are inanimate objects controlled by their operators. It’s not good for me or them- it’s bad for us all the direction some want to take us.

Strange??..... Never been a thought in my mind either!! Why would it ever be, I buy a vehicle based on MY needs and how it meets those expectations, not some imaginary "but what if" crap.

Crash testing requirements have pretty much killed cab-over/cab-forward designs in the US. The Canoo is styled as such, but you sit pretty far back... still better than most trucks for sure.

Wish we had a light-quadcycle class like they do in Europe. I'd prefer a simpler, cheaper, and lighter rig than anything they will sell here.

Closer to the mark:

Mini vans can do quite well in crash tests. Pickup hoods don’t have to be that long and grill height is killing people
Wouldn’t it be easier to just not walk in front of cars?
I'm permanently disabled from being struck in a work zone by a distracted driver.

That’s not good but not sure why it matters. If someone chokes on a chicken bone we don’t mandate boneless chicken. And you are being dishonest- grill height has never killed anyone. Show me grill height on a death certificate- I’ll wait.

How is grill height killing

Why is it so hard to imagine a taller grill obscures a drivers view? I spent a couple decades driving dump trucks. It’s the same thing with really thick A-pillars on newer trucks that also obsure a drivers view.

I can tell you from personal experience that a taller hood would have resulted in my head splattering on the hood before being thrown. Physics.

No one is taking away your right to have a big grill, snowflake. It’s just confounding that you can’t understand getting hit with a bigger thing is more bad. And yes pedestrian fatalities are off the flipping chart in the US, for many reasons other than blaming the dead person..

I’m not blaming the dead person- unless they walked out in front of a car- then I am.

So if a "distracted driver" in a tesla had hit you and severed both legs with its low center of mass and no discernible hood "height", would you be better off??

No one is blaming the vehicle except for you, calling someone a "snowflake" while acting like a "snowflake" is just simply ironic at best.

It's astounding that some people keep blaming the tool and cannot comprehend that human error is the problem, not the otherwise inanimate object, a vehicle controlled by a moron doesn't care how big it is, it's just a vehicle.

Enjoy your use of the "ignore" function, it's like the old cartoons that have an ostrich with its head in the sand, sad and pathetic all at the same time.

Are you asking if people would prefer to have their "legs severed" or to have their "head splattered"? I think many people would choose the one that leaves them alive.

This is an argument I never understand. Of course human error is the problem, I don't think anybody is arguing differently. The issue is that some percentage of the population is going to make these types of errors, and vehicle size compounds the effect of those errors. If everybody was a perfect driver we wouldn't need laws mandating speed limits, traffic signs, cross walks, etc. But people are not perfect drivers. The potential negative impact of the tool behind the wheel is directly related to the tool they are driving.

This is an argument I never understand. Of course human error is the problem.

If you bothered to read all of what I quoted you would understand that I was asking
vagabond a question after he said he was "permanently disabled", I asked if he was better off "permanently disabled" by a taller vehicle or "permanently disabled" by lower vehicle!!.

The second part is just as ignorant, vagabond never mentions the driver, he clearly says "grill height is killing people", with not a word about the driver of the "grill height" vehicle causing the problem in the first place, you can pretend otherwise and say that "I don't think anyone is arguing differently" but his comments do argue differently and that is clearly evident.

Cybertruck is such a scam. Tesla bypassing early reservation holders to see who will pony up an extra $20K ON TOP of a ~50% price increase on all models from reveal. Terrible ~320 mile range that will be like 250 miles in real life and 200 in winter. No spare tire. If you get a spare tire it will take up most of the bed.

"Range Extender" is never coming out and is complete Tesla BS vaporware. That would take up the remaining bed space. Not even a way to connect it in the bed. So a Cybertruck with spare and range extender isn't even a pickup truck anymore. Tesla's idiotic fixed headrest seats that give you neck pain after an hour.

Stupid white interior on a truck. No opening moonroof or rear window are huge misses. No HVAC in the bed as promised. Towing is going to be laughable with that tiny 123 kWh battery. The sales of this truck will tank once Tesla scams all of the "gotta have it now" Tesla fan-bois out of an extra $20K while pissing off the rest of their customers by putting them to the end of the line.

The REAL price of the Cybertruck is dual motor $100K and Tri-motor $120K. Only "Founders Editions" will be made for 2024/2025. The RWD is also vaporware and not coming out for many many many years if at all. Neither is the "$80K AWD" or "$100K Beast".

A large vehicle, and a tall vehicle (I'd rather have my legs cut off than my head crushed) are inherently more dangerous. Big EVs are just as dangerous.

It is relatively unsafe to get around in a small vehicle or on foot when the roads are heavily populated by large trucks and SUVs. It's collision physics, energy and momentum. Drivers are not more careful in a large vehicle, rather it's the opposite. The safer a person feels the less they pay attention.

Of course if we didn't have driver error, we wouldn't have crashes... but how do you propose to eliminate that?

I'm not proposing putting "soft noses" on vehicles to make them less deadly to pedestrians, or similar silliness, and I don't really care about safety personally. I do care about ridiculous trends that consume more resources and don't enhance anyone's life.

I'm not proposing anything! Humans be humans and there is no way to fix that.

You and vagabond keep making arguments against choices people make for their vehicles based on your biases, the owner of a large truck or SUV did the same but we only see you 2 complaining about choices here.

Your comment about "ridiculous choices" is laughable! So since you don't like bigger vehicles, that makes them a bad choice?

And because a vehicle like my suburban uses "more resources" than your vehicle makes it the bad choice? Nope, that's simply your perspective and you keep trying to make your perspective the only viable option, but it isn't and never will be, it's my "ridiculous trend" that uses resources that I pay for, happily so, and it absolutely "enhances" my life, get over it.
