Lots of bumper updates to come.

However, I wanted to post this up because it was interesting and worth noting for those thinking of going with the All Pro Expedition Springs.

This is what 1280 lbs of yard waste looks like. (I had no idea it would be so heavy) I have the u bolt flip and timbren bump stops along with the expo springs...all from all pro. I still had about 1.5" before contacting the bump stops and it rode really nice.

These springs hold a shocking amount of weight. I think 7-800 lbs is about the sweet spot, though.

I'm certainly not advocating driving with loads this heavy. It's just a data point for those that may be interested in this setup.

Here's roughly what I want to make.

I ended up having to start over because the tension released when I cut the rectangle tubing was tremendous. Couldn't straighten it enough to salvage it. Live and learn!

Getting the right angle and distances

Spare tire holder nearing completion!

Bracing for each swing arm. Also makes them match the main bumper beam behind them...because that's how I wanted it. Haha

All tacked in place.

Now you're up to date! That was a speed update that skipped a lot of conversation and details but I figured it was enough. If anyone has any questions, comments or concerns, let me know!

It'll be high clearance but it won't be like most of the high clearance bumpers. It'll match the sliders I made but in a different orientation. I'm hoping to cut the bedsides this weekend and start the design/build of the 'wings' as I call them.

More updates! I did some finish welding and I got after the dual can carrier. I had fitment issues with my CBI dual can carrier. Tracked it down to the fact that my 20 year old but perfect condition scepter MWCs are about 1/4" taller than more modern versions. So, I couldn't use the locking tab on the can carrier. I cut it up and modded it to work. It's great now!

Bending the top cap to work with my cans. This was hitting the pour spouts on my can lids.

Not anymore!

All modded and ready for use!

Still have some finish welding and grinding to do on the water swing out.

I'm hoping to have this main part of the bumper done, cleaned up and ready for powdercoat by Monday. We'll see!

Thanks, guys! I have to admit, there have been SO MANY times where I've just looked at the work left and the time already spent and thought, "why the hell didn't I just buy one!". Hopefully it all holds together and works well...then it will have been worth it. Haha

Honestly that's whats stopping me at this point. Between buying a welder and the time invested in learning how to fab it all up it might be more time effective to just buy one. Of course that rationale only applies to the first few before the ROI flips in favor of making one yourself. There certainly is something to be said for making it the way you want it with your own two hands.
