The Great Camp Chair Debate

I have two of the GCI Xpress Loungers and I will say that I love them but both of mine are very different in how the are sewn. One of the chairs you can really lean back in and the other is more upright. There is probably a reason for them being a lower priced chair. Even though my chairs are different I will continue to tell my friends and family to buy them until I find another chair like them.

Rot Box (Andrew's) wife had one on our trip last weekend, it did look comfortable and she said she loved it.

Time for a thread resurrection !

I have been shopping for chairs and can not see spending $50.00 plus for a camping chair. Ordered 2 of these today from West Marine.

Discontinued, from $40.00 down to $14.66, and flat fee of $4.95 shipping. 35 bucks for 2 chairs shipped. Cant hurt to try !!

Thought i would update!
Bought 3 of these chairs over xmas at $15each. Insane price. they are xtremely comfortable and seem to be holding up to the punishment we have served them, though there are quite a few plastic connectors and flimsy looking rivets abound. I thought they would not hold up, they are. Just returned from a 9 day campout, used and abused them, reclined, folded, etc... very comfy and look nice. only drawback is they are heavy, maybe thats why they are still working.
get them instead of $150 Lafuma's, I dont think you will regret it.

I have a very simple computer chair--not a fancy office chair or anything. I was was wondering if I could spray paint the black plastic frame of the chair with a gold metallic spray. I would cover the fabric so it doesn't get paint on it.

Mine are still going strong, too! Yep, they are a bit heavier than your standard cheapy folding chair, but very comfy :)

I'm happy with my Kermit chairs. I added the extra feet to them for additional height. I like the compactness of the Kermit. Makes them easy to pack when I'm bringing lots of stuff.

I recently purchased two of the REI Comfort LTG chairs on sale.

They are very comfortable and have an adjustable pillow, however they are low to the ground. I don't mind the height at all but some may.

On the 4th while waiting to see the local fireworks show a couple rode up with backpack chairs. The chairs are named Wearever Chair. They have backpack straps, a place to put stuff and even a small cupholder. They look great and from what I've read are comfortable and sturdy. If I can find the right price on the wearever chair I will buy them and see how they are in person. I did a search for them here and couldn't find any reviews or comments.

Well, I have exactly that green one pictured in your post. I've had it for about 1.5 years, and have used it on a handful of camping trips. OK, I like the comfort, the pillow, the backpack-ness, and it has a couple-few recline positions, which is nice. I also like the wood arm rests...I carve names of places I visit into them when sitting by campfire.
Now, it does not actually appear/feel all that sturdy, and there are some rather thin, weak-looking aluminum plate components here & there built into the reclining mechanism...but I haven't collapsed it yet. I'm 6'2", 190, and have tried plopping hard into the chair many times, and it is still working fine. Perhaps if you hit it at the wrong angle, it might break...I dunno.
FYI, I have seen a similar chair at REI which, IMO, is MUCH sturdier than the one I have...however it was quite a bit higher-priced than mine (I believe I paid around $30).
Anyways, hope this helps.

The chairs I just bought from Wally-world look exactly like the green ones, down to the plastic clip and cup holder on the end of the wooden handle... $14.95.

Good to know. I hate WALMART but for that price may have to give it a look.

I was looking for chairs last night and while I was looking, the Alps Camp Chair
camp-chair.png

popped up on steepandcheap for $15.99!

I snagged 2 of them for under $45 shipped total - I'm happy with the price since they seem to be like $50 +ship anywhere else. I know this chair is kinda heavy, but my wife and I will be full-timing in our TC over the next year or so and we really wanted a sold seating surface. anyone else have experience with this chair? good or bad, i'd love to hear opinions
