It's been my experience with Chinese made automotive products that they are not well made. The quality of goods that are used in production are inferior and assembly quality is inferior.

New tires for SWR

SWR, x 2 on the Tire Rack for prices and good information. I have been running Firestone Destination AT's on my new ranger and I like them, late winter snow, spring mud and all this summer, rain highway and a few trips in our Adirondack Mtn. fire/logging roads they are working out fine, check them out and there reviews on Tire Racks site. stay safe, mjmcdowell

I've had the Geolanders on my past and present 4runner and I have no complaints about them. Taken them though snow, mud, sand and rock srewn trails with a problem.

I wanted to buy those, but didn't once I did enough research to realize that they wear fast and unevenly. I went with BFG ATs--- quiet, long lasting. Don't think I'll ever buy a different tire.

mastercraf/courser at2. my wife has these on her fj and i will putting these on my 08 taco next time.excellant wear, quiet, and go like a tank in the snow.

i have also ead good things about the general grabber at2

good luck

General Grabbers look similar to BFG ATs but they're LOUD, and wear faster. With those tires, my dad's WJ is louder on the highway than my XJ, even with all the sound insulation and more advanced unibody they have. I would steer clear.

I only have about 3,000 miles left now on my Cooper A/T's.

Why is it that I would rather go to the Dentist and get a filling, than go to a tire store>?!!

So I stopped by a big name tire store today that was supposedly having a buy 2 get 2 Free Sale!

Once I pop the question for a 31x10.50x15.....they seem to only have one style available. The Falken Wild Peak A/T. Then the price even seems very high at $163.00 each. But I'm thinking it's OK...I'm getting two free, right.

Buy the time they Make you buy the road hazard, front end alignment, , mounting and balancing, disposel fees, etc. etc. etc.!

Your 4 tires that should have come to just over $300, are now $750!

I left, with my money in my pocket.

I've narrowed down my choice to the Goodyear Duratrac.

Or....

The Yokohama Geolander A/T~S

DiscountTireDirect.com seems to have Free Shipping and no sales tax. They also have a $50 rebate right now on any tire if you use their credit card.

I have a local shop that will mount and balance for $10 bucks per wheel.

What an ordeal!

There is NO Such Thing....as a True tire sale anymore!

It's All Smoke and Mirrors!

If you are looking for a nice, all-terrain tire, check out the Falken High Country. I've had them on my 86 now for about 5,000 miles and they are great! Great road manners, excellent in rain and handle the desert great. The best price I can find on them is $119.11 from Onlinetires.com. If you'd like to see them in person, perhaps I can make a trip down south your way. I need to pick up my jackstands from a certain Jeep owner there anyway.

I ended up going with Treadwright 285/75/16 BFG AT copies on a set of FZJ80 wheels powdercoated black. They have been flawless in everything since last July including some rather deep snow a couple weeks ago.

I just took them to the local Belle Tire to have them mounted. I am still way ahead. $95 each compared to $225 each I definitely can't complain.

I would think the Duratracs would be a little quieter, Yokahama/Nitto tends to have a blockier sidewall which I think makes the tire a little louder.

You are in SD..keep an eye out for Evans Tire..they have a buy 2 get 2 deal often. It maxes out at $300.00, but I got a good deal on some Kelly Safari tires...they are made by Goodyear and I couldnt find any bad writeups on them. I ended up paying $605.00 out the door with full roadhazard warranty.
