The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

My cash is ready as soon as I can find a dealer with no additional markup.
I want the 1st Edition with all the extra goodies and then it will go to a few choice vendors for extras and immediately into the dirt.
Love the look and super excited
This. Immediate concern is there will be few dealers that don't do this. Took forever to get my PS F250 without a markup and hoping that finding one of these, less markup, isn't an insane process...

Given that the 4runner TRD pro ground clearance is 9.6", the outgoing 200 series is 8.9" and the new Land Cruiser is going to be 8.7" it suggests a large rear axle R&P. Since the lowest ground clearance point is under the rear diff and the new Land Cruiser is the lowest, that would imply that it is going to be a very stout rear axle, as well it should be with 465 lb feet of torque. We will have to wait and see final specs when they're available, but this could be a very stoutly built vehicle. Here's hoping for a payload of at least 1,500 lbs. If you couldn't tell, I'm excited about this vehicle.

The 2024 Tacoma has maximum ground clearance of 9.5 inches, maximum running ground clearance of 11 inches. I am a bit lost on why its so low on the LC, unless its due to the front rake, or like you said, a huge rear axle.

31" tires don't help. Are those Taco max numbers with 33s? Because the LC with 33s (assuming these numbers are the ones from the base 1958) would be 9.7".

I’d be surprised if any first editions can be had without a markup unfortunately.
Most Yota dealers out west still have 8000-6000 mark ups on the old 4runners and definitely on the Highlanders. Hell even the stupid dated tired last gen Prius has markups. I quit buying new from Toyota 15yrs ago due to this BS. Only buy used let the suckers play that game.
First edition will be a for sure 10k markup west of the Rockies

The 1958 trim only has 8.3" of clearance.
I was going off your 8.7". Didn't realize you meant the Land Cruiser TRIM of the Land Cruiser...model. Man that is so stupid they did that :ROFLMAO: But...yeah...barely an inch difference in tire diameter between the '58 and LC trims which would get that .4ish" difference. Definitely isn't great, but I'm used to avoiding things with the small planet on my Power Wagon's rear axle :cautious:

I won't play the game either - ADM and I walk which I've done several times, it's poor form and don't appreciate it and wish manuf. would not allow dealers to do it. The unfortunate thing is it pushes the REAL 'enthusiast' type people, like some of us on here, out 2-3 years out because we typically are not the ones that are going to jump from hot rig to hot rig. Not that a long waiting list is much better nor people getting on a waiting list then re-selling, but at least the money is going into the pockets of a common person vs a dealership that is price fixing the market.

That's my "Get off my lawn" moment for the day.

This part right here...THIS is the value I'm waiting for. I don't care that the towing was reduced from the 200 by a ton. I'm not towing a 4-ton trailer to any trailhead in the first place. But it'll be really interesting to see where payload falls, particularly as it's already loaded down with the battery pack.

As one of the folks that fell out of love with the Grenadier, I'm really excited by this. For our use case of taking the dogs all over North America on trails up to about 6/10 rating with an RTT, and typical buildout, I think it'll be perfect. Gonna be a tight fit with both the dogs, but we have the RAM for bigger stuff and we'll make due for a few years (knock on wood) until we're down to just one dog.
Wonder if towing is decreased due to added battery weight or the vehicle not being built as robust? It does concern me towing is down....it kinda points to it being less Landcruiser and more Prado.

Given the number of times they referenced "light duty" during the brief world launch event...they're certainly not trying to hide it ;).
