The Wanderers build

so it looks like I did nothing - perfect.

the plan is now test it with the turned up pump and the misc. other things I fixed - e.g. the idle adjustment wasn't adjusted, it was turned all the way in. Also, there was a bolt that wasn't tight on the intake and the gasket showed a bit of sign that it wasn't sealing well....
I now have the elbow necessary for the intercooler

drive it around tomorrow.... it should be interesting, detroit locker on ice wheeeeeee

New turbo time...
it's hard to tell from pictures but the exhaust wheel is far more aggressive
ZavedhEh.jpg

as is usual, I have to mix and match parts. The housing on the 'old' turbo is too small for the exhaust and compressor wheel of the new - but I'd have to cut a hole in the hood for the wastegate controller so the old one is used

thankfully I didn't have to change the lever
mBBVOz8h.jpg

I was hoping to run it without an intercooler to do an apples to apples comparison, however, the offset is wrong. Worst yet, I can't flip the housing over because it hits the valve cover

so the intercooler piping will be convoluted starting from the center then going to the passenger side... I did actually consider rebuilding the adapter - but that would mean new exhaust pipes too so I took the 'easy' route

Now I'm waiting for the intercooler and the new piping. I have some 2.5" pipe but I used 1/2 a kit on the JKU so not enough to compete this... ah well, my plan today was this then pop onto the FJ40 to replace the ps pump.... instead I spent a good 8 hours today on just this... great....

I really like it when someone does a nice "please help me find the part" post on Facebook. Was reading one just this morning and thought "wow, I wonder if anyone will suggest the part to help this guy out."
Turns out someone did.
And I bought it.

Thanks buddy.

I am not sure, would the 4 grouped up like that effect airflow through the rads in any way?
Not really a fan of those type of lights but if I had to choose I would say the latter.
Good points - I don't have cooling problems at all, though I am stacking an intercooler in this so maybe waiting a bit to see what that does to temps might be a wise choise.

the problem with the outside grouping is it covers the signals - so I'll have to add some kind of light in the bumper. The other issue is I put that bumper on the truck because it makes working on it much, much easier. The lights in that location would interfere with that.

I'm about 80% on these lights - but they do something that put them miles ahead of anyone else, I can go from 'barely visible' light to nuclear, thus they work as fog lights up to 'be seen on the International Space Station' with just a button press...
