Cool! I look forward to the next version of your build.

When we were out at the Socal thing a few months ago, Linda spoke wise words to me: if you can't go out and be comfortable you are less likely to go out. I translate that into making things easier...taking less crap and making it easier to take your dogs along. Simplify!

Wise words indeed!

Yeah, I was looking at that Tiger ...it had me thinking. I decided that I still enjoy my ability to do pretty technical trails, so IMO this is about as comfortable as it gets for the more difficult terrain. I'm getting out to anything I can make now. We no longer own a house, so bringing the dogs will be like cutting the teather. I've even got Heidi (not to be confused with you :D) on board for Hollister this year.:wings: A week on the Arizona Strip is my goal for next year.

Hey Trump,
Not to go off topic, you told me once that I didn't need to worry about the u bolts and Timbren bump stops, with the dakar springs and Icons would you use them or the stock bumps? thanks

The Timbren bumps I can't offer any feedback on since I haven't used them. I would not recommend a U-bolt flip kit for a weekend warrior/DD. You need to change shock mount location on the axle (weld new mounts) and normally change shocks for the new lengths. A lot involved for a causal offroad vehicle IMO. YMMV

I think that means you can go out buy more stuff to mod the truck... I'm pretty sure my man-ears are right on this one. At least until the MC bill comes in. Then feign innocence. Like my SAC - "but sweetie, I don't understand why you're so angry - you said I could replace the leaking boot on my CV half-shaft!?" See?

You actually might be right about this. Yesterday I'm in the driveway with the tape measure looking things over and thinking about a possible bed interior build. She joins me and starts offering ideas and thoughts. An hour later after some good brainstorming we go to head inside and she says: "I'm really excited." I just about cried. :victory:

Just thought I'd mention...

Mark,
Nice build-up... I really feel you should re-think your plans with your truck... You should SELL that Taco to me and I will get you in a nice comfortable '02 Z-78 Tahoe !!!
Your dogs will be so happy in the back of the Tahoe with rear air cond. whilst you and the Mrs are in leather seats enjoying the company of your canines...
BTW, go ahead and order the Flipac, you can use the RTT on the Tahoe :)

:D

You make a good point with the A/C; however, I've got a plan for routing A/C into the Flip-pac already when the time comes.

Might as well give a little update while I'm at it... CBI is busy putting together a new rear bumper for me right now and it should be going on this month. I'll be sad to see the current bumper go, but I need to get this stuff out of the bed to make room for the dogs. Frame plates will be going on as well to prevent the frame from cracking under the leverage of the new bumper.

Ordering the Flip-pac is proving to be frustrating as it has been put on hold. FRP seems to not be communicating well with AT, so until that improves I'm sitting in the holding pattern. I was looking forward to having everything dialed in by the Overland Rally in Holister, but it looks like I'll still be in the RTT unless things change soon.

I like your new direction!

Any info on that RTT rack? Is that something you fabbed up? I was looking at purchasing and modifying the all-pro rack to acheive something similar to what you have. I've got almost the same tire carrier setup and hoping to stay as low from the roof line as possible.

Thanks. The rack was designed and fabbed by pray4surf and a friend of his. I've got some pictures with measurements added that I could send you later if you're interested in copying his design. I would recommend Crossed Up Off-Road if you would like something fabbed up local.
