Nice job Chuck! But I have a question....is it wrong that my kayak has been to Baja more times than I have?????

I seem to recall you getting invited on this trip, GT . . . . So no complaining! :) You missed a great trip!

Oh, and a note to all, don't let Chuck fool you about how manly he was with those cold showers! His screams could be heard for half a mile! The REAL story about Chuck gets told on my report (link is on Chuck's first page). hehehe

Good morning Chuck,

I literally have been logging on all through April checking to see if you wrote your trip report. I almost wrote you a PM saying what’s up?

Ugh, I get to work today I see your report. Now have to wait until tonight to check it out. It’s going to be a long day at work, but I know tonight is going to be great reading!

Thanks in advance!

Matt W

No doubt! last Saturday I went to sleep late because, i could not let go of Chuck's great report!:coffeedrink:

And still dreaming about it!:D

Chuck,

Your trip took you along 2 of my 7 favorite roads in Baja, La Paz to Los Barilles & La Paz thru San Evaristo to Mission San Luis Gonzaga

Whale watching in San Ignacio was quite different for most of the season. As you expierenced, there was good activity at the mouth of the lagoon, but less within the lagoon. That's an amazing experience being out by the breakers with the friendlies. Whale numbers were down this year compared to last year, including Scammons. There wasn't any decline in friendlies though.

Malarrimo Beach is impressive, you'll have to hit it on another trip.

Re: San Borja. Henry is Angel's younger brother. I've got a few cute pictures of them from about 10 years ago that I'll show you sometime.

Hey Al, I now know why those two roads are on your favorites list. They were amazing. Thanks for all the help planning this adventure!

I wonder why the whale numbers are down? Is that anecdotal or are there people doing some sort of aerial surveys?

Henry was his name, thanks, I never wrote his name down. He was a nice young man too. Their german shepherd was the most lovable dog too. So many good vibes from that place, can't wait to go back.

The whale counts were very unscientific. At one time they would start at one end of the lagoon travel in pangas at a specific speed abreast of each other & counted blows, identifying mother calf pairs & single whales. There was a multiplier factor for the daily count. Not sure if this still goes on today or if they do an aerial survey. They did the same in Scammons.

If I remember, I'll check my maps tonight & post my other favorite Baja roads.
