UJOR Build Thread

Anxious to see the test!

Just recently converted my '04 QVan to 8x170 with new unit bearings and wheel spacers and while it drives heaps better with this and new brakes, it still leaves a lot to be desired. On a trip to the Buttermilks this last weekend, a light 4wd trail had me wondering how much better a UJOR-converted van will handle. Looking forward to switching it all out in the coming months...

Steel Blue looks ridiculous and is strong fodder for future plans!

Any similar weight competitor (quigley, advanced, quadvan) 4x4 vans in the area to put to the test?

Gents, does anyone know where I could find a sliding door extender for my 95 RIG? Once I installed the sterling in the rear the sliding door does not want to clear the tires anymore.

All done! Everything went well and we'll start editing tomorrow. Here's are some van geek #s:

60 MPH to zero in 97'

100' slalom @ 50mph

Yea I'm surprised those cars don't stop shorter. We measured 3 different runs from 60 and the worst was 110'. Our brakes are big but some of those cars have the same if not more….

It's just can't be possible that a 6800lb van stops the same as a ZR1. Going back tomorrow for a re do!

You have to remember how much more rubber the vans have on the ground, and a lot of weight over the front wheels putting pressure on that rubber. It does seem unbelievable, but what the vans can't do is stop like that repeatedly. Those cars can do that over and over without fading.

Awesome results, though. Even at 110' that is great!

Just got back from the strip, got 3 runs in.

1st run had some lock up on the front so I let off and wound up @ 130'

2nd run I tagged the brakes a tad early and wound up @ 94'

3rd was the cleanest @ 113'

Still not bad considering its a van weighing 6800lbs.

Stopping a van that heavy will put a lot of heat into the brakes, which will lead to fade after a few hard stops. Not a problem in normal conditions, only racing. It's not like you'll stop once and your brakes are gone. That's why those cars have the exotic carbon-ceramic discs, they do well with high heat and repeated stops.

Chris, those new numbers are still extremely impressive!
