So the dentist visit pretty much destroyed my AM today... I was determined to get some work done though, so the SMB got brake & ABS lines, steering, and front shocks. I mounted the sway bar, just need to drill for the links to finish that up. Tomorrow morning.... T case!
Now the REALLY good news!!!!!!! If you have the 5R110 transmission, you no longer need to pull it for the output shaft swap! I'm super excited about this, and yet I'm still a little upset that none of my tranny guys have told me this to save me the work. It's actually really simple, and I've been talking with a few pros to confirm everything. I completed the swap today on the SMB. It's as simple as removing the 2wd tail housing, pulling the shaft out & swapping the tone ring to the new 4x4 shaft. Bolt up the new adapter, and BAM. Ready for the NV271. Here are some pics, and I'll have a kit up on the site tonight----

Rear ring and pinion installed (and very well if I do say so), brakes bled and track bar on. Should be on the road later today.

Rob stopped by the shop with his new rig, a super nice 05 V10. We swapped some parts from his old van, and gave it a good general checkup. Now he's back in NY!

Nice looking rims, do you know if they are available in a 5x5 lug pattern?I've used these wheels on several vans, and I've decided to start keeping them in stock. The wheels are steel, have a nice clean look, and they're a great low price option for van conversions. Here are the specs: 16x7, 4.25" Backspacing, 8 on 170mm pattern. I have them powder coated in the same black texture that I use for everything else, so they match up great. Price is $120ea, I currently have 5 in stock with more on the way.

The SMB rolled out of the shop Saturday, everything looks good! Now to the engine shop for some 6.0 upgrades.
Looks nice! Give me the details on the 6.0 engine upgrades! I am rolling bone stock engine right now and am interested in upgrades!

Since you live in the nanny state, you'll need to keep it smog legal. So.... I would upgrade with parts from Bulletproof Diesel. (EGR & oil cooler)
Normally, I do an EGR cooler delete, clean the turbo, and install a custom programmer that shuts down the EGR valve electronically. An EGT gauge is nice to have too, I would definitely run one in your rig.

I got my rig smog exempt. Small loophole that not many know about for diesels over 13k GVWR.
What do you mean clean the turbo?
