quick update

I put a roof vent in the van and what a difference it makes as far as interior air flow and removing stagnant air. I'm very glad I decided to do it. It brought my day time temp down about 10-15 degrees when all windows are closed with vent open, If I crack the windows and turn the exhaust fan on it's no different than outside air temp. It creates a nice vacuum, puling fresh air in and pushing hot air out. I was a little concerned about being in the desert with a black van but not anymore. I used the FANTASTIC 2way 14" vent, lifetime warranty.

I was having trouble with charging my house batteries and now I know why. The previous owner must have had the wrong solenoid installed,(left) $18. I replaced it with an identical unit which is mounted under the battery in engine compartment once and burned out again. I needed a continuous duty cycle solenoid (right) $75 now the house batteries are all charging nicely. Took me a while to find one that worked.

I have a couple old roof vents off a school bus I have been contemplating putting in the roof of my no A/C old GMC, I already put one in the roof of my Civic Track car and it pushes tornado's of air into the cabin at track speed. I can attest to the power of a good vent on flow through.

looks something like the one for sale here (no affiliation yadda yadda)

I have been looking for that style vent for sometime now.. I want to install those on my Jeep in the kick panels. I looked at every possible place I could think of howvever, I never thought to look on the rally car sites..
THANK YOU for the post :wings:

I scored a Mastercraft rear seat from Nely a couple of weeks ago, I found some angle iron in the garage and fabbed a quick set of legs for it and mounted in the Van today. A couple of 9" stainless turnbuckles tied into the trax tie down system I have flush mounted in the floor, a couple of factory rear seat belts from bench seats I took out and wa-la. I have a removable and usable rear seat.
I rarely have anyone in the Van but it would be nice to have a couch outside to relax on when camping and if I need to carry some passengers I figure this will keep that to a minimum..

WARN 16.5ti install

I got my winch installed this weekend. After all the horror stories about winches and pinched wires I wanted a little peace of mind. Going through the bumper I felt a little uneasy installing the wire without a grommet. So I came up with the idea to run the power wire inside some poly tubing. Then for aesthetics I used some more nylon meshing.

A couple of wire guides and some zip ties.

Barn Door Bug Out

I've been trying to figure out a way to keep doors open at night without letting in the bugs and critters... I knew needed some sorta tent door with a minor modification... I found some shelter bug barrier stuff at KOHL's , took it, and some ideas to a lady I know with mad skills on the sewing machine and here it is. It doesn't match my color scheme but I'll deal with it, for little $$$$... I found some that are made very well but cost upwards of $400 per set of doors and require a velcro fastener all the way around the door sills.. (IMO tacky and it won't last in the heat) I wanted front and rear doors made for my van. An interior shop quoted me a little over $700 for both doors custom made.

We just got back from a week long trip in the van for some wheeling, kayaking and fishing at Shaver Lake.
We flat towed the TJ up there and had a great time. The van was awesome to camp in and I look forward to finishing it up over the next several months. The list keeps getting longer but it will be well worth it in the long run. Building this animal is something I should have done long ago

I'll post up some more pics later. My computer crashed right when I got home and I'm rebuilding as we speak. This was a trial upload on the new operating system.
