I hate it when that happens. 3 weeks ago, I could have driven up Arrastra Gulch and saved a mile of walking each way, to the point two switchbacks below the Mayflower Mine - the county road was so side and flat and free of rocks. But right at the beginning of that leg, there was a water section 3 feet long by 1 foot deep that was completely impassible for my little car. Youse guys with your real 4x4s would have driven right through it and said "ditch? what ditch?" It was a really nice walk, though, through the pines & aspens.

'nother one blocked my way up the west side to the Hagerman Tunnel in 1997 (great w side pics at these people's site halfway down the page). Made it easily beyond that water spot in 2001, parked at Ivanhoe Lake and biked the rest of the way up to the RR tunnel - 2nd photo.

This guy blocked, displayed, and followed our truck for over ten miles in Denali a few years ago. At times he was literally beside my window just staring at me. Weird and completely exhilarating experience. Those yellow eyes just leave you with a spooky feeling.

Venezuela- road blocks were quite common in rural areas when electric or water lines were'nt repaired for weeks, the locals would simply block the roads and hold up traffic untill some one paid attention

This guy had traffic stopped for awhile! By the looks of the scrape on his nose, he's either been in a fight with a bumper or another bear

Photo credit goes to Cindy Bonish as I was driving and she was leaning out the passenger side window to get the shot

Just holding up traffic like he owns the place, which clearly he doesn't, he isn't paying taxes!
