Ahh okay, three on mine also. I just changed them out yesterday so I know them well haha

Hmmm, then maybe there's a way.

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck, and I'm not getting rid of it. It's just a bummer when I can't go very far because of the mileage. We'll see if that can be improved though.

Time for auxiliary fuel tank or jerry cans. :) That's my solution. I'm averaging 15-16 city and about 18 highway with all the maintenance so far and a stock tank.

There's only so much with the transmission gearing, engine, stock fuel tank, and wheel/tire combo's that you can do to improve mileage without sacrificing capabilities. Give some or take some. It's all about compromise unfortunately.

True story my friend. Like I said, I love the truck, and it's not going anywhere. Winter blend gas and cold temps are conspiring to get me depressed about the mileage and range. It will get better. I am heavily considering a long range tank to compensate.

The NA 3.3 is also not that great in cold temps. We have been having a mild winter and this is from Fuelly. Avg 14 now and drops to 13 if it is in the teens. frontier.jpg

My old TB42E with the 35" and all the stuff would give me around 9-13 mpg but mostly between 11-14 mpg! That's something expected from a Bugatti! Hope things improve with the new engine :)

Well, the temps shot up to about 45-50 yesterday, and my truck was lovng it. The mileage went up to around 14 before the wind decided to pick up and ruin it.

I also added Seafoam to the oil and gas to try to clean stuff out a bit. It seems to like it. I know of many people who have had good results doing this.

On a side note.... can somebody please explain to me why all the offroad people I run into spell Moab in all capital letters? I've checked every book and website I can, and it's Moab, not MOAB. It confounds me!

maybe they are just really excited? where are you going? MOAB!!!

I put a whole can of seafoam in through my intake about a year ago, i didnt get the huge massive plume of smoke that I thought I would, but definitely did get some as I was driving it around

Haha that's what I was thinking! Just the thought of it makes them want to shout?

I did like a half a can, which is more than the directions said! Then I put a can and a half in the gas. No smoke, but the engine seems happy with it. Wih luck, it's getting rid of any of the gunk or sludgy crap that might be in there.

I dont think I put any into the gas, and if the instructions said only half a can i doubt I went much more than that, I just dont remember seeing the one sitting around so I am assuming I used it all

According to the instructions, a whole can will treat 10 quarts of oil! Haha! I used half a can because I wanted a little extra cleaning power.

You make a good point there.

I've read about people on tacomaworld getting a 1-2 mpg increase from the Seafoam treatment.

So either Seafoam works fantastically, or the Toyota 3.4 collects crap like crazy.

On the "MOAB" thing, are you talking about a specific website where folks like to spell it that way? Or where are you seeing folks do that? Is it just within the Nissan community, or more globally?

If we're thinking of the some of the same places, it's been a big pet peeve of mine ... I think for some, it stems from their only exposure to the town coming through G.O.N.E. Moab. The logo for the event for a while has been:
fetch
... which is great as far as logos go, and I like it a lot. But folks, I think, see it and for whatever reason, let the formatting creep into their own lexicon without thinking about how the name of a town/region is not part of the larger acronym.

But if you're seeing that done outside of referencing that particular event, or worse, outside of a few isolated cases within the "Nissan Community"; then I've got nothin' to help explain it and I'd be equally bewildered.

Anyway ... hopefully the Seafoam helps you out a bit. Am I remembering correctly that there's a bit of a recommendation floating around, that one should only put it into the oil just before a change is due? Or more specifically: that if you want to Seafoam the oil, you should change it soon after?

I treat the intake and the gas at least once a year, if not more in the gas. I Put a full can through the intake and work the throttle keeping it running just till the end of the can then I let it stall out. let it sit for 15 to 20 min then I start it back up and let it run. I got some good smoke on my first few treatments but now I see drastically less. I've never put it into the crankcase oil as I've been running good synthetic oil the whole time I've had the truck.

Now for the results...... none in MPG but the truck does idle smoother and at lower RPMs. I mark my fuel ups with seafoam on Fuelly to track the MPG.

I pick up cans when they are on sale so it is worth the $8 to $16 bucks for a treatment IMO.
