I see it as a good development, at least in the right direction. 
The few things that need to change for balance would likely happen in a production unit anyways, like a taller side door glass.  I like the front grill, particularly the upright position.  The bonnet needs a smoothed, more rounded transition to the wings.  The fender openings could be a bit higher on the panel, opened up a bit, allowing for an even larger tire and reducing the overall height of the sheetmetal in that area. I like the roofline, which speaks to the legacy of the product, including the side glass. Approach and departure look great.  I really like the utility (van) sides without the glass.
This is a huge improvement from the DC100.  
No doubt it will have independent front and rear, but it will also likely have the cross-linked air suspension and three locking diffs.   I can see it in all white, front bull-bar, winch, sliders, 33" tires.  
The DC100 I would not buy - this I would. Praying for the 3.0L twin turbo diesel. . .
