Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

Oh man, that sounds fun! How does the 4.7 feel with the manual? How did you get around the auto transmission controls?

What have you broken/replaced on your overweight Tacoma?

Yes, so far, very happy with the Tundra! I only have about 32k miles on it but I've had zero issues with it. The harder you push the suspension, the better it is. For what I do, it's a good fit.

The $264 1991 F250. Talk some sense into me

For a trip like that I would check/replace the following; Tires Brakes-including all brake hoses Wheel bearings U-joints All fluids Fuel filters- and carry some spares Do a proper tune up- plugs, wires, cap, rotor, clean the throttle body Pick up an additional ignition module (grey box on the...

What have you broken/replaced on your overweight Tacoma?

Thanks! The suspension was one of the best upgrades to both 4runners. The matte black wrap definitely helps with the glare and it looks decent as well. The bumper is from the now defunct Pelfreybilt company. If you decide to move up to a fullsize truck and your decision is f150 or 250, go...

What have you broken/replaced on your overweight Tacoma?

Not a tacoma but my 2008 4runner is on the heavy side and has been overloaded a couple times, including offroad trips. Knock on wood, the only thing that has ever come close to failing in 190k miles is a rear wheel bearing, which wasn't due to weight but got water in it when our roads were...

    GMT400 - a love/hate relationship

These are good trucks and makes me want to get another one. I had a 92 Z71 with the 5.7 and 5-speed manual. It was a great truck and took us all over the US. At one point, it had a screaming ProCharged 383 in it but I swapped back to a NA 350 after the 383 let go one night. The weakest link...

Ford Superduty Tremor "off road" 2020 F250/F350.

This package and especially the new 7.3 gas V8 may be enough to get me to at least visit a Ford dealership again in the future. Would be nice to have decent off-road capability and good available payload.

    NEW RIG: 2012 F-150 FX4

Coming in late but, when I owned my eco f150, I removed the rear driveshaft and installed a grease zerk fitting in the slip yoke so I could easily service it and keep it smooth. Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues with the engine and electronics so I had to dump it at 45k miles.

    Last 2500 Suburban

I would be careful flexing with those airbags. They are really only for pavement use and are notorious for tearing off-road. The airbags that the 2500/3500 trucks use with a Daystar lower isolator can withstand some off-road use but the upper bracket would probably have to be modified for use on...

    2019 Ram 3500 build thread

What do you plan to do for a spare tire? I don't think a 37" will fit underneath in the factory location.

2005 Tacoma: Need the Ultimate Frame for Overland

Your 2005 sounds like such a cool build! I was daydreaming just today of doing a build very similar to yours. I'm also a fan of the earlier 1GR 4.0's, even in NA form, they just run great and they seem to be super reliable. It sounds like you have your truck the way you want it and you know...

    Icon's vs Bilstein 6112.

If your bumper/winch combo is light, a 14" 650# spring should work just fine. I run 14" 700# King coils with my 6112's and they work great but I have a heavy bumper and steel cable winch. I spoke to an engineer with Bilstein a few years ago about weight vs the 6112 and his opinion was that the...

Jeep Gladiator Truck Overlander on 40 Inch Trail Grapplers

That’s definitely something that appeals to me. It’s so easy to add big tires to this platform. 37’s look so right on there.

    Tundra vs F150

You can actually fit 37’s quite easily on the Tundra with the right offset. 35’s on mine fit perfect. You’re right, 42’s is a whole other ballgame.

Jeep Gladiator Truck Overlander on 40 Inch Trail Grapplers

The more I read about the gladiator, the more I’m liking it. Really like the fact that a large tire will fit with minimal work. I do agree that 40’s are overkill for most people but they seem to fit and work well in the video.

    Tundra vs F150

So how does Ford do stellar on the crash tests but in the real world, this happens? I don't think I'd want my truck coming apart like this. Also, the extended cab fords don't do quite as well as the crew cab fords.

    Tundra vs F150

Back in 2012, I had to decide between an f150 or Tundra. I have to admit, the Tundra seemed a little dated, even back then, plus I didn’t want to live with that 26 gallon fuel tank. I was initially really impressed with the f150, all its gizmos and the ecoboost engine so I chose the ford. It was...

    Last 2500 Suburban

You can look on the glove box door, it should have a build sticker with a list of codes which state exactly how it was built at GM. GT4= 3.73 gears, GT5= 4.10 gears, G80= gov lock rear locker, I forget the rest. As for the axles/running gear, the 2500 suburban is very similar to the 2500 (not...
