I made it to the coast - running on one cylinder. Battery is smoked and can't keep the bike running with the headlight on. Big grins!
Detoured from I5 because the draw of the coastline was too great. Glad I did.
The bike wont even kick start now, only firing after a bump start downhill.
Let's be good overlanders and complete the daily inspection. . .
Turn signals - ummm, no
Headlight - ummm, not unless absolutely necessary
Battery - not really. But it does keep just enough voltage to kick start.
Mirror - That is what I have hands for
Speedo - so yesterday
License plate -...
Lets get it running first. . .
(note: not the fuel valves :) )
Starter working - nope
Kick starter working - well, it is turning the motor over
Cylinders flooded with fuel? Check
Pull plugs
Kick like hell
Reinsert plugs
Brraaaaap!
That is perfect Mike.
I fly in around 2pm, and will have a few hours getting the bike sorted. I suspect dinner around 6-6:30 would work great. Would be nice to see as many people as want to stop in.
Do you have a restaurant suggestion Mike? I am happy with anything given my typical travel...
That was crazy. I was so rookied out on that trip. Not that I have anything figured out now, but I was only 72 hours into my motorcycle license! Great memories.
Mike,
Forgot you were in Portland. Would be great to say hello for dinner. Maybe we can pick a restaurant on the south side of the city a small group of us can meet at?
Would be nice to meet up
Here is a picture of the sleeping configuration. We have custom bug screens for the windows. The key for me is the pad thickness and comfort. I have wide shoulders and am a side sleeper, so 3" minimum thickness for me, or I wake up with a backache.
It is my new favorite way to camp. I even set-up my LR4 to work that way now too. I have over 100 nights in the back of the VDJ78s and I sleep like a baby.
