Does anyone know about ARK Portable battery boxes and where to buy them

I bought one a few months back. It works, and the ARK people were helpful. Post up if you have questions. Here's a copy of the e-mail I got in response to my initial inquiry. Tell Brett I said "Hi."

    Seitz-Dometic windows for my M725

Go to here: http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/acrylic-rv-window.html and scroll through the various suppliers. There are several Seitz-style offerings. Sadly, there seem to be a lot of 20-piece minimum orders, whereas it used to be 10. That's going to be a problem . . . it was one thing...

Expedition West Tacoma DEPOSIT IN HAND

Whoa. Say it ain't so. Ken, does everything work on the truck now? Gauges, electronics, air system, mechanical bits, plumbing, etc.? Tires, alignment, suspension, steering still good? Anything different from when you got it except the tent and top of bed structure? Thanks.

    Central ORE, cheap UniMog!

If you're not an experienced Mogger and are considering this truck, you'd do yourself a world of good to show up at this week's Northwest MogFest, where there will be a number of 404s like this one and you can ride in, and probably get to drive, one to see if it'll meet your needs...

    Seitz-Dometic windows for my M725

If you mean the Seitz windows in general, there's a useful thread here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/56066-Seitz-Windows-101-Pros-Cons-and-their-Operation? If you need specific windows, good luck. The supply situation remains a problem . . . enough so that I, too, am...

thought this could i start on a camper bathroom

Ah . . . no. It's being sold by what is, more or less, the Federal government. And I think it's a particularly useful post, since if I was anywhere close and building a camper box, I'd want it if it stays anywhere near the opening bid.

    1994 Mercedes-Benz 814D/3700

The principal issue is not with the state titling and registration, it's with the federal government, in the form of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection enforcing regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation. With rather few exceptions, most all of...

    1994 Mercedes-Benz 814D/3700

That was very modest post for what is maybe one of the most famous overlanders in the world. This truck is either: A) John Speed's Mercedes, the construction of which is the essence of the book Travel Vans, or B) Another truck which someone is selling using with pictures all taken from Travel...

Duraflame Logs to Circumvent Firewood Transporting Laws?

I sure have. Must be because we're surrounded by trees. :sombrero: No, that would be wrong in many ways. (Though to be anal about it, given the findings about the carcinogens in wood smoke, you might not want to cook much over a campfire, either. Also . . ...

Duraflame Logs to Circumvent Firewood Transporting Laws?

I've used Duraflame logs often and consider them an excellent alternative if all you're looking for is "I'm sitting around a campfire" ambiance. I've not had much problem with the smell or having them burning cleanly. It's helpful if its elevated off the ground somehow so air gets all around it...

Expedition West Tacoma DEPOSIT IN HAND

My experience matches Ken's. With the compliant suspension and the gearing making up for the extra weight, it's as good or better than a stock Taco for daily use, save that shorter people face a bigger climb into the cab and it's not so well loved at the carwash.

    1961 Mercedes Benz O321H

I want this a lot. It'd be the perfect motorhome. However, it weighs more, and has fewer horsepower from it's non-turbo'd engine, than my Unimog camper. Given that there were problems with speed and performance in the Mog, I can't bring myself to sign up for this one. How cool it is, though...

    GY Duratrac issues

Howl? Squishy? Vague? Boy, you'd think it wasn't the same tire. My XV-JP has Duratracs and they handle great and are very quiet for a tread that aggressive. Putting them on transformed the handling over the MT/Rs that had been on it. So apparently their pretty sensitive to the truck in question...

Expedition West Tacoma DEPOSIT IN HAND

That's one perspective, but while I haven't talked to Ken, I'm sure he's selling it for the same reason I sold it two years ago: This is a vehicle that can safely, comfortably and reliably go anywhere in the world, and when you own a vehicle like that, it gnaws on you to keep it just for...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP Summary Build Thread

I'm very grateful for all the compliments that my Portal peers have given the Jeep. With the my ex-Expeditions West Tacoma going on sale this week, it's brought back detailed memories of the time two years back when I owned both the Tacoma and the XV-JP and was agonizing over which one would be...

    Pugsly's FG rebuild thread

Given you'd have the old awning for a template, if you gave any sewing ability (or the initiative to give it a try), you can get whatever material you need from an online source like Sailrite.com. At a minimum, you can see the full range of what's available in Sunbrella and similar fabrics...

Picking my Escape Vehicle: UJZ100, GX470, Taco or 4Runner

If you want a very-highly capable truck that ticks all of the criteria you mentioned, the Expeditions West Tacoma just went up for sale. As solid a truck as you can find, and the re-gearing is already done (and perfect for towing.) Plus the aux fuel tank stretches the range...

Thanks for sharing the trip information. You were really bookin' it. That fuel economy is sweet for the V-6 at that speed. I suspect that the lower roof helps, and it sure makes for a good looking truck (especially with the MBz grille). Enjoy the truck.
