Jeep jku CB install in center console?

I have the same mount, works pretty well but can't say I'm loving the 75WXT, small screen, small buttons, tinny sound if you don't add an external speaker. As clean as it is, I'm thinking about going back to a regular style cb, but with a small footprint and built in SWR meter.

    Midland MXT100 GMRS Mini Review

Thanks for the heads up, I picked up the new Baofeng GMRS V1 to play with it as it went on a flash sale last week. I'll post up once I've had time to mess with it, it's pre-programmed with the repeaters as well. https://baofengtech.com/gmrs-v1

    My project build/ Expo trailer.

Flat bed is great option to have!! I've been thinking about adding a second flat bed trailer but you have the best of both worlds. Well done!

    The 'ole headlight question

    Try Amazon...although I don't think these were $720 on Qtech either. https://www.amazon.com/Truck-Lite-27450C-Headlamp/dp/B007ED7HNY

To spot or not to spot

Lots of articles from CES unveiling of the new models last week, here's one: http://www.digitaltrends.com/outdoors/garmin-inreach-se-ces-2017/ I have the current now old generation InReach SE and it's been great, much better then my Gen 1 spot. The 2 way communication through text is very...

    3.8l death & warranty replacement.

Agreed, that's utter BS, OP should fight it for sure!

    Garmin InReach Explorer+

We have the InReach SE after having a first generation Spot. It works great, no issues, battery life is great as well. While it would be a good back up to have the Explorer as a handheld stand alone GPS, the screen is so small I can't see it being someone's ONLY GPS. Does work pretty well for...

Portable vs Fixed Roof mount Solar panels

Really well done, I want to do something similar for my expo trailer rack, thanks for the ideas!

    3.8l death & warranty replacement.

Interesting article regarding the 3.8, a longer version was published awhile back in Jp Magazine after they tore down a couple 3.8's with a 100K+ miles on them. Too many issues for a modern motor. http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/engine/1508-3-8l-jeep-wrangler-jk-engine-problems/ My 2010...

Improving Hwy Manners For Long Trips

Something is up suspension/tire wise, I have the same lift, but smaller tires, 285/70 17's and I have zero tracking issues. Did 17 hours straight this past summer coming back from Colorado where traffic was regularly moving 80+, crazy storms etc. I'd suggest the same as others, tires, and...

    Midland MXT100 GMRS Mini Review

Agreed and this is what I have been finding as well in my initial research, especially since I want a true mobile base station vs a handheld which is what keeps bringing me back to the MXT100. It's basically plug and play although I would add a permanently mounted antenna. No need to mess...

    Midland MXT100 GMRS Mini Review

Been considering that option as well, I should probably start a new thread so I don't clog up this one. I'll link it once it's created.

    Midland MXT100 GMRS Mini Review

Can't agree more with this, while it won't dissuade me from getting into Ham radio, the GMRS ends up being the go to on the trail for ease of use. I have 4 of the handheld GMRS bubble pack radios and because we hit the trails with a variety of experienced and inexperienced overlanders, they...

    Midland MXT100 GMRS Mini Review

For a second I thought I'd grabbed my handheld CB and turned it on to Ch.19! As a contrast, we used GMRS radios from Los Angeles to Colorado and never heard anyone else on our channel.

    Which 3500lb axle for a M101A1

Nice work! The axle swap is one of the most nerve wracking parts of the build getting everything just right!

    Midland MXT100 GMRS Mini Review

Not exactly on topic, but I fired up my 2M Baofeng handheld that I purchased on sale at Amazon awhile back just to see what I could hear, and to further inspire me to study for the test. I've heard very little at our home near Los Angeles, so I thought I would have better luck at our cabin in...

Tablet or Garmin, what's your poison?

I'm with you Mike, I've tried a number of programs, including Gaia which I do like, but all of them seem to have their shortcomings like not being able to re-route on the fly. I also have a Zumo which is my only dedicated GPS but I'd prefer a bit larger screen for the Jeep. I think I am going...

    Midland MXT100 GMRS Mini Review

An interesting alternative, especially for those wanting to keep FCC compliant, Baofeng now has a FCC certified GMRS specific handheld that includes GMRS repeater frequencies which I know someone posted was not possible with the MXT. I don't think there would be much money saved going this...
