The CrowsWing - Offroad Teardrop Trailer

But Weight! There's More! One of the most frequently asked questions we get, (and I know you are all dying to know) is “How much does it weigh?” If you're interested in an empty, unladen, dry weight I'm going to disappoint you. Our first weighing was done at a CAT scale, loaded...

Sitting on 285/75/16s (~33" tire)the CrowsWing is 85" tall. On the same tire the truck is a mere 73" tall.

The CrowsWing - Offroad Teardrop Trailer

I'm not quite understanding your question. We have 2 doors, and 2 basement access doors. One of each on each side of the trailer. Drivers side: Passenger side: If you go all the way back to post number 56, there are detailed photographs showing how the basement is made. It's split down the...

The CrowsWing - Offroad Teardrop Trailer

Yeah, see that's where we deferred to the "expertise" of "Trailer Guys" who build trailers for a living and bill themselves as custom builders. They are also a five hour drive away and were impossible to contact through emails or phone calls. In the end we were lucky to get our trailer at all...

The CrowsWing - Offroad Teardrop Trailer

As I previously stated, we had a major failure of the trailer's tongue. It started slowly and was unnoticed for the first summer. It began a slow bend, but by the end of camping season it was quite noticeable. We pondered over the winter on the why it bent as well as the how to fix it. The...

Matthewp's MuTTT (Multiple Terrain Tactical Teardrop).

We went with the Vexilar D-130. It displays your battery as charging or discharging and it's percent of charge state. It's accurate. I checked the voltage of the batteries at various intervals and the percentage displayed correlates to the voltage/percentage charts you can find on the 'net.

    Teardrop Trailer Build

Which is exactly why we designed our trailer with extra storage. The basement is perfect and is where we store our camp chairs, gazebo, side awnings, and shower unit. At night we kick our shoes off and slide them into the basement. They stay nice and dry and are ready at hand any time of the...

Matthewp's MuTTT (Multiple Terrain Tactical Teardrop).

No need for concern: Our 40 gallon tank is strapped down, it doesn't move, and regular strap checks show no stretching (not enough to wiggle the tank). Of course, that's only 6000 miles of use, so who knows what the future holds....

Yes, very nice progress! Love the battery storage location, much better than in the tongue box like ours. Our next trailer will have a similar setup for the water tank/electrical, that is, if you don't mind us stealing your design, lol.

    Teardrop Recommendations

This is my opinion on a sink in a teardrop: you should consider how much space you lose to gain that sink. Space is at a premium with a teardrop, especially if you are on an extended trip. Most sinks used in small campers are small, too small to be really useful. Even a small sink takes up very...

The CrowsWing - Offroad Teardrop Trailer

Your welcome, and you are correct, documenting a build is time consuming and tiresome, but I'm really glad we did. The simple answer is: Everything we built is holding up splendidly. The trailer has just over 6000 miles (a lot of highway - some of which was horribly rough, quite a lot of gravel...

    Teardrop Recommendations

Can't help you much on the process or manufacturer to purchase a teardrop, but if you ever decide to build one feel free to ask questions! What I can help with is: We have a King size bed in the house, and a near-Queen size in the teardrop. After 2 years and 30+ nights in the teardrop, I can...
