    Finally my 1988 fj62

I have always been a Toyota guy and have been trying to get my hands on an older Landcruiser for a while. I finally found the right deal and dropped some cash on an 88 fj62. The truck was a daily driver but was parked a few months back because it was replaced by a gas sipping Honda. The owner...

    Trail Outfitters FJ60 Restoration

Plans are to get it running first! Hopefully it wont be too much though. It was a daily driver but has been sitting a few months. New battery, new gas, and see where we are after that.

    New Hilux Siting

There is a guy here in NC who is selling a 4 door 91 Hilux truck that has been built very well. I think he is asking around 8 for it. If anyone is interested I could put you in contact.

    How many run "old" rigs?

Seems like with the 22r and 22re even if it does have some sort of major failure they will still limp you back home. I would like to take a $20,000 car loan and put it towards an older model Toyota. Instead of doing the fix it when it breaks thing. Just take out the loan and do a frame up...

    How many run "old" rigs?

If you spent the same amount of money on an older, well built vehicle, that you spend on a new vehicle I imagine it would be pretty reliable. Dropping $15-$20,000 on an 85 4runner would be an AWESOME rig.

    How many run "old" rigs?

I used to run a 90 4runner that was pretty reliable but it still nickle and dimmed me with little stuff. I am starting a build on an 88 fj62 now and I guess we will see how it goes.

Pulling the trigger on a Zuk

I will definitely be keeping this one for a long time. It is one of my dream cars. Its an 88 fj62 in great shape. Paint and body are excellent and so is the interior. The only issues are a dead battery and a little rust on the rear quarter panel. I will be starting a thread featuring it soon.

Pulling the trigger on a Zuk

Dont worry! I sold the XJ the same week. I have car A.D.D. I usually will buy something at a good price and then post it for way more than I paid, just to see if someone will buy it. Sold these two right out of the gate. I think you will be even happier with what I am going to pick up tomorrow...

    New Hilux Siting

Could be heading up here to Blackwater, or US Training Center, or whatever they are called now. Or some other contractor who is armoring up vehicles to go overseas.

    Trail Outfitters FJ60 Restoration

You have inspired me. I am taking the car hauler tomorrow to rescue an 88 FJ62. Assuming the deal doesnt fall through.

    Cherokee or Grand?

Yeah when you dont have 4x4 you really find out what your made of. I think it also makes you a better driver though. You think about things much more. When your ready to do your conversion go for it. It is not too bad to do. I did a 4x4 conversion on my last XJ and it wasnt too bad. Well, except...

    Cherokee or Grand?

I had the electrical stuff first, which was more of a nuisance than a failure. The truck (which was immaculate and well cared for) left me on the side of the road a couple times. Then the trans went out, not sure if it was an overheating issue or what, but the truck was barely ever offroad. 4...

Edged Tools? What do you use?

I use that hatchet as well every time we go to the woods. I actually cleared a Jeep trail spanning about 50 acres with that hatchet!

Edged Tools? What do you use?

Thats what I love about them, it just seems like they know how to get the power to the ground. Super durable too. When you buy one of their products you buy it once, then you never need another.

    Cherokee or Grand?

Honestly, my vote would be for an XJ. I have seen so many stack on lots of hard miles and just keep going and going like the Energizer Bunny. I cant say the same for ZJs. But, my ZJ WAS more comfortable than my XJs have been. Its all going to boil down to what you want.

    F350 and FWC

Is this what you were thinking of? No really, I have an F250 I am thinking of putting a FWC in but I dont have any build pictures yet. I am interested in seeing the same.

    Cherokee or Grand?

It was stock height, so in that perspective yes. Had a couple friends running 33s with the 4.0 ZJ. Power seemed fine with me. You have to take that for what its worth though, I have also run a lot of Toyotas and I am used to an under powered rig. The 4.0 has just got great torque so it always...
