Yep... ain't happening if you are putting lots of miles on a big rig. It probably isn't happening at home either, in a typical USA house, with a typical USA lifestyle... no matter how much "feel good" recycling you do. If you want to explore though and think camping is "boring", you can go on...

    2019 F-550 Crew Cab - $225k, Milwaukee Oregon

"14.5-foot Aluminum habitat with a king bed in cab-over and subframe built and mounted by Trivan. The box is 1/8” aluminum with 2” spray foam insulation. 4 insulated perimeter storage boxes and garage hatch by Trivan." Trivan gets good reviews. I'd check on their subframe though...

    2019 F-550 Crew Cab - $225k, Milwaukee Oregon

^You don't need to spend anywhere near $39k... but you can, and some do. And they have a higher GVWR which requires the military tires if you want to use it all. If you are cool with 8k lbs per axle, then you can use LT tires. Don't you need to pay for a 4x4 conversion on a NPR? That isn't cheap...

RV repair shops + ballistic panels manufacturing build indestructible no easier way to build

Also, regarding building... I rounded and filled all the edges and hand-laid them with epoxy and FG, like the panels. And I did not use HD foam... could have used polyester resin, but that stuff seems very toxic. Plus, I found very nice epoxy that was only $30/gal, so there was no point.

    Tallest 275 pizza cutter

That's why I bought a throttle mapping doohickey (lets me set my preferred pedal to throttle relationship) , and use tow/haul mode (more aggressive shifts and hangs onto gears longer). The stock settings, which are designed for EPA driving cycle, sucked. More popular trucks have more...

    Tallest 275 pizza cutter

What is the offset? The only 17" wheel for stock 2nd gen was with the Rock Warrior package. Nice and light forged AL BBS wheels. That was only for a few years at most... T speed rating, so I bet it's good for MPG...

    Tallest 275 pizza cutter

Tire/wheel weight does effect ride, but the effect on acceleration and mpg is minuscule. Simple physics of momentum. Rather, when we get tires that happen to be heavier, they are usually a larger diameter (gearing is higher) and they have a lot more rolling resistance (hysteresis) due to...

I think my big pickup and big slide in camper suggestion is still viable then. Buy good-used and see how you like it. If you want to explore more technical areas, you can park the camper easily.

    Tallest 275 pizza cutter

Well... that's confusing since you are the 2nd person to say that. In the video I posted above, he found that the skinny tires flexed much better than the wide ones... it wasn't close. And most of us are using E rated tires anyway, since in the big sizes that is most common. Just sayin', a...

Just stay home and watch football then...🤪 As I recall your earlier speculations involved a huge camper that was designed to house a bunch of people. That wouldn't be very good for exploring. A motorcycle would be good though, and an electric one would be quiet and low emission...

Tire advice on the Falken Wildpeak R/T

No experiences with those tires, but I can't think of a reason to expect the RTs to fair better than what you have. The tread compounds are likely very similar if not identical.

He was looking for a 18, but... That's definitely a pizza cutter!... but the only tire in 255/85r17 I see is a MT Baja Boss at $350, which is pretty pricey for a 34.

    Expo Vehicle MPG

It's a Tundra with a 164" wheelbase... but a lot of people do build on Tacomas and smaller trucks. Good points! Even when I lived in my rig, I drove ~12k miles/yr and a lot of that was gratuitous. That was ~600 gal/yr and I spent $3k/yr total to live in the 90s, with ~$600 being gas. It's a...
