Is a Land Cruiser really better off-road than a Tacoma? My experience says the opposite..

Not really such a thing as axle spacers… per se. There are some IFS lifts (mostly Chevy and ford, IIRC) that put a small spacer between the inner cv and axle flange, but that’s really the only axle spacer I know of. The spacers that you see on SAS rigs are just wheel spacers. Buy a high...

Is a Land Cruiser really better off-road than a Tacoma? My experience says the opposite..

I don’t think you’ll profit. You’ll need rotors as well. And then wheels and tires? imho - put the 4.88s in and keep the current size tires and brake upgrades. Zero cost

Why take the tundra calipers off? Usually that’s a great upgrade.

Is a Land Cruiser really better off-road than a Tacoma? My experience says the opposite..

I am a mini truck guy. I’ve owned dozens in different variations and currently own 2 tacomas and two 4 runners. I’ve also owned multiple SAS’d trucks with HP 3rds… I hope you are right that it’s a simple knock sensor and short throw shifter kit delete… just do thing eyes while open and don’t...

Is a Land Cruiser really better off-road than a Tacoma? My experience says the opposite..

Honestly, it’s not a trade I would have ever made. Worrying about the most popular front diff in Toyota solid axle/solid axle swap use as the weak link is misplaced concern.. I hope it works out. Based on your comments thus far, you traded known issues for potentially expensive unknowns.

Is a Land Cruiser really better off-road than a Tacoma? My experience says the opposite..

i find the highlighted very curious... and it reminded me that a definition of LC and Tacoma were not formalized as FZJ80 and 1st gen Tacoma that the OP mentions. I'm curious if that changes opinions at all.

Is a Land Cruiser really better off-road than a Tacoma? My experience says the opposite..

I’d say it’s an apples to water buffalo comparison…. But personal preference (like manual vs auto) will have a massive impact on overall comfort and conclusion. I’ve owned 7 tacomas and zero LC’s. I had similar thoughts when comparing my 1st gen 4Runners to my xtracab many years ago -...

What direction did you head when you outgrew your 4runner?

just had to add one more on the Tundra... Apparently, the factory spray in bedliner isn't sticking to the plastic bed... peels off in sheets. lol

What direction did you head when you outgrew your 4runner?

anecdotally, as I haven't driven a new Tundra... They seem to be having so many quality issues these days, I'd wait at least a year. UBJ's coming apart, rear axle retainer nuts backing out, turbos, etc... just crazy stuff. Of course, my f350 has had 4 recall notices, including one for "ripping"...

help me decide Toyo at III or Duratracs

I've never met a person who has liked Duratracs when they start to wear. Get loud, hard to balance... skip them. 6500 miles on the set on the f350... if tires weren't so damned expensive right now, it'd be sporting Falkens.

I was a BFG fan for a long time. Now I go with Falken Wildpeaks. Love them. Gearing is fine.

Best value these days: 4Runner or GX460?

we went through this recently... keep the 5th gen or get a GX. comparing new to new - the lexus is almost a bargain (as of 3 months ago when I looked) compared to the 4runner.

What Toyota truck for Box Camper build?

NGL... when I read the thread title, I thought this was going to be about selecting a bed to make into a camper trailer. and I kind of got excited. Always wanted to build a 1st gen tacoma bed trailer... no idea why... i have no real use for one...

Anybody pull an Intec Flyer (the toyhauler size) with a newer Tacoma?

guessing it's this: inTech | Flyer Explore | Toy Hauler RV cool looking trailer. shy of 6' wide, 10' long, 2990 GVWR.

Anybody pull an Intec Flyer (the toyhauler size) with a newer Tacoma?

You’re going from a 3.6 to a 3.5 with similar power levels… I would personally never, under any circumstance, attempt to pull 6800# with any Tacoma. we pulled an enclosed utility trailer (5x8x6) with a 2010 Tacoma across country. It sucked.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I’m either incredibly impressed… or confused… And I’m not sure I care which one at this point, because I kind of dig it.
