5* Days in the Upper Peninsula - 7 Hour Plane Crash Trail

You have to click on the pics, I see them now. We too went to Gay and stopped at the Gay bar. I don’t recommend the pizza.

Sounds like a fun trip. We were in copper harbor about a month ago. Your pics aren’t working for me.

Northern Lite 610 for 1/2 Ton PU

I was going to mention something like this. My ‘15 2500 Chevy 8’ box has a payload of 2,800ish and the sticker in the glovebox says 1995# for a truck camper.

I don’t know if it’s just a difference in terminology but I see the the lack of engine breaking for gas engines pointed out sometimes. Gas engines definitely have engine breaking, at least my 6.0 Chevy does. When you’ve got the cruise set(and tow haul mode on)at a speed and you go down a decent...

    Any experience with Ember trailers?

They constantly go out of sync. That’s not usually a big problem though, you run the slide in and out a bunch and it should re sync. The main problems are: The motors get weak and the the controller shuts it down. Or The blocks that ride on the rail break and aren’t aligned anymore, it won’t...

Do your brakes fully lock up?

Those quick lube axles with the grease zerk in the middle is notorious for getting over greased and letting greese past the seal onto the shoes.

Talk me out of it: 6.0L Powerstroke?

I wouldn’t own one. I was doing recovery work in ‘08 and we were using these things then. They didn’t like to start in the winter and had mechanical problems. Things have come a long way since then. Unless you want a high maintenance hot rod truck That probably has other problems at this point...

Do your brakes fully lock up?

The way I test electric trailer brakes, at least the electric side of things, is to have a good battery in the unit and then measure how many amps the brakes pull. I take a multi meter with an amp clamp and clamp one of wires of the break away switch. Pull the pin of the brake away switch , not...

Do your brakes fully lock up?

I’ve been an rv tech for a couple years. I’ve installed dozens of brake controllers. I’ve never seen trailer brakes lock up.

I suspect in my case it was the board. (This was a customer unit and warranty doesn’t pay me for diagnostic time) They sent me some trouble shooting where I was to unplug the motor and see if it still spun. This confused everyone in the shop as there are two motors in the unit and the original...

I had a similar failure of a maxxfan, the warranty process took months. If they ever do send you out a new fan know that you don’t need to remove the whole thing from the roof. You open the fan all the way and then remove four screws from the sides of the fan, up on the roof that is. The trim...

Turns out I need a real truck. Kindly help me choose one!

The last time I drove a diesel work truck was over ten years ago. They were 2007-8 ford powerstrokes. If it was colder than say -20f they wouldn’t start without two running trucks jumping the dead truck at the same time. We were also adding something called diesel 911 fuel additive to the fuel...

Turns out I need a real truck. Kindly help me choose one!

I would stick with a gasser unless you’re towing close to your max. I think the GM trucks are still harder to modify and fit bigger tires.

Yep, I’ve done both. The sprayer sometimes struggles if the goo is too cold, maybe less than 70f. The last time I did it I opened up the nozzle wide open and cranked the psi way higher than recommended. I put that stuff on THICC. Make sure you wear clothes you don’t mind trashing and wear some...

I used over a gallon of fluid film black on my truck so far. It looks a lot better on the Chevy with the way the frame sticks down so much.
