    Water storage/hose/shower

One suggestion, having learned the hard way...keep your water inside your truck, especially if you're going to use it for hunting...you may not think it will freeze, but one night out at below-freezing temperatures can put a layer of ice in your storage container...if it's a sunshower it might...

    Thinking about an HT..FT60R?

Not to hijack, but what's the difference between the VX-7R, -5R, and -8R?

H3T Truck bed rack for RTT

With 65k on my 3, and starting to get into constant-maintenance issues (front axle seal leak, bushing replacements, sloppy steering column), I'm seriously starting to think about it...maybe after the Hollister rally (when I win another Expedition Trophy :victory:) I'll go test drive a few. One...

H3T Truck bed rack for RTT

There is some overlap between the Colorado and the H3, mostly the I-5 block and 4l60e transmission. The intake on the H3 was modified to be lower (to clear the lower hood height), the differentials on the H3 are Cast Iron (on newer models) vs Cast Aluminum, forged control arms instead of...

    Ultimate Vehicle Fire Extinguisher

No doubt about it... (1) He would have had a major fire had I not stopped (and really, I ask, why didn't anyone else in front of me stop? it was backed up, it would have been easy for someone ahead of me to stop...anyway...) (2) anything more and my dinky fire extinguisher would not have...

    Ultimate Vehicle Fire Extinguisher

put out car fire today... So was heading down the freeway today in Portland, OR (I-205)...traffic was backed up miserably... After about an hour, the backup cleared, then about 1/2 mile down the road it slowed down again, and there was a mid-70s camaro on the side of the road...the guy was...

A little boredom and black paint

Black that out too :) That's what I did on my H3 (with very dark hammered paint) and it looked really nice

Google Android software and hardware: Post here

x2...very similar to Microsoft either suing or settling with handset manufacturers using Android. It isn't about winning in court, it's about convincing companies with deep pockets they would be better to settle out of court.

A little boredom and black paint

Looks great! Now you need to black out that chrome grill :)

Google Android software and hardware: Post here

Backcountry Navigator works great on my 7" Nook Color. Scales nicely and doesn't pixelate. Other than reading books + some occasional web browsing, that's primarily what I use it for.

    Cheap Fridge <$400 shipped

Here's an update on a recent trip I took w/my Edgestar on the outside of the trailer (fully exposed to the elements). First portion of the trip was following the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route (WABDR) for 5 days...went about 500 miles offroad, through mud pits (yes, it got muddy, but...

    Pressurized water tanks

I have that exact washdown kit...it works GREAT! I can't speak to long-term reliability as I just got it, but it certainly works for taking a shower. I have it set up in a portable format so I can draw from a creek and heat up the water and take a shower that way, plus it works great for...

    Garmin Montana

I guess it depends on what you use it for...I wouldn't take a 7" screen GPS hiking with me, even 4" is almost too big. What would be ideal would be something like the Archos line...a 4", 5", and 7" model that all uses the same software and hardware, just slightly different screen sizes.

    Advantages of Front-Mounted Ice Chest

x2...I just drove 500 or so miles offroad w/my fridge on the tongue (think hot sun, mud, rain, and lots of dust), then spent 5 days stationary in hot weather to see how it would do. It survived the drive (WABDR), but would barely last a day in the hot sun before I had to charge the battery...

    SPOT vs. PLB

I recently got a SPOT, mostly for two reasons: Communicate (one-way) with friends and family...and 'just in case' I need emergency help. I found here in the PNW that the SPOT works 95% of the time in the woods, under tree cover, etc. So the real question is what is your risk tolerance? If...

    Suburban shopping

The '03 model years had the new dash...I prefer that to the 00-02 dash. I don't think there are any other major changes in those model years. If you want to really set it up for airflow, put in a roll-down screen in the back - then you can open the barn doors and roll down the screen...use...

What are you using for BBQ Grills

I use a Magma grill...I use briquettes, my brother has propane...very nice grills, basically indestructible, and I got mine for $20 off Craigslist, he paid $80 for his gas grill (also Craigslist) http://www.magmaproducts.com/Products/Grills/Marine_Kettles/marine_kettles.html

    Yakima Lock help needed!

I had the same issue, here's what I did to fix it: Spray a ton of WD40 in and around the lock. Mine had corroded just enough to 'stick' in the lock casing and make it a pain to pull out. I would guess a penetrating lube would work too. Once I'd sprayed it down, I just stuck the master/blank...

    Campsite bug solutions?

x2 on Skin so soft Also, eat lots of garlic, that's always been my thing. Also had some success with the clip-on mosquito repellents.
