    Motion Sensors for bears

Sounds like a good idea...one thing to watch for is motion sensors draw current continuously, so you would need to research how much that draw is so you don't wear down your battery.

Time to stock up on paper maps!

Interesting that it was snuck in...I didn't hear anything about it and follow these things closely. That said, GPS is too integrated into life in the US for this to go through. If there really is a tangible effect on GPS signals, and there needs to be transmitters all around the country to run...

    interior panel / door insulation

For my Suburban, I used lots of sprayfoam (I think it came out to 15 cans total) in all walls. First, though, I ran 1/2" PVC pipe and all wiring so I could expand/change later. Not only did it act as thermal barrier, it stiffened the structure a lot. For the floor, doors and roof, I used HVAC...

What I'm getting for Christmas: HP tm2t & iTouch & BB Torch

So, started getting sick of my current laptop, a Lenovo S10-3t, and decided to upgrade. It works great for a lot of simple computing, but really shows its weakness running photo editing software and flash video. HP was having a great sale on their touchscreen tablet laptops, so I decided to...

    PC and Mount Setups Pics

I have a Lenovo S10-3t. Works great for basic stuff, and fantastic for an 'all-in-one' car/house setup. I use a bluetooth GPS puck and power the laptop with a Targus adapter. If you already have a desktop, a netbook/tablet is a great choice - You can do all the heavy lifting on the desktop...

    Suburban Owners.. MPG?

Had an '88 Suburban. 350 w/Turbo 400 and 4.10 gears, 285-75-16 tires, and 40 gal tank. Drove it to Alaska and back (8,000 miles) got 12.1 mpg combined highway and off-road. In town, got around 12. Pulling my brothers 21' hunting boat, got 12 mpg. Sitting in the driveway, got 12 mpg. I...

Winch wiring suggestions with dual batts

Actually, if you have a starting battery (high current, lower reserve) and a deep cycle (low current, higher reserve), running a winch off both is bad for the deep cycle - it's physical construction makes it more susceptible to high-current draw failure. Ideally if you were using a winch often...

Ugh, need new rain jacket, can't decide

ok, so it's been 9 years since I bought my last rain jacket. It was a Columbia titanium, sealed seems, 100% waterproof, lightweight, not 'crinkley', lightweight, roomy enough to wear a fleece underneath, had 2nd zipper for just that. It's been all over the place in all kinds of conditions...

    Overland H3T

Pretty easy... http://www.hummerxclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13061 If you want two batteries in the engine bay, that's the way to go for mounting them. Then, you need to decide a few things: Extra capacity (parallel setup) - Much easier to wire up, but requires you buy two batteries...

    1988 suburban visor- you opinion

I had one on my '88 burb when I bought it and immediately removed it. I wanted as much 'upward' visibility as possible, and it did affect it a little bit (plus I was worried about getting caught in tree branch and getting yanked off). Now, I wouldn't get one because I think that style is a...
