    Serpentine Belts

I don't go anywhere, and I certainly wouldn't go 4wding without 2 of every belt, as well as belts the right size to just run the water pump (alternators are for girls with gasoline powered vehicles ;) ) It's not about inconvenience, it's about life and death in a big empty country like this. If...

    60 Series Suspension Question

I've got nothing against OME, I'm probably going to be replacing my springs with them soon, but give some thought to running airbags in the rear. Benifit is that when you load up for a trip, you can pump the bags up to suit. When you're home, let some air out and still have a comfortable ride...

    Nissan Patrol > Google

Seems google earth took their streetview car down an outback road they shouldn't have... Lucky a Patrol came along to save the day! Click back and forward on the arrows to see it all unfold :)...

    I need help/advice on a JDM Nissan...

It would probably be a GQ model patrol (model before the current rounder shaped GU). You can get every accessory you ever dreamed of, and then some, for them from ARB, Opposite Lock, TJM etc in Australia. They're live axle, with coils all around. The Sahara model had a higher roof (intended for...

Power Windows in a 78 Series Troopy?

Easiest way would just be to buy the doors off an RV model, which has power windows. If you went to a wrecker the actual winder parts may well bolt into your current doors. It's kinda wierd driving a troopy with carpet floor and electric windows, but we have some at work. Sean

    For Fellow 70-Series Lovers

No, just buy the VIN plate (if it even has one at that age) and put it on a brand new 70 series. Wind the odomotre over a bit with an electric drill and import a brand new 70 series as an 84 model. Just got to tell them you had a full restoration done in Aus, along with a later model emission...

    For Fellow 70-Series Lovers

Yeah here in Aust it's different... 1# If you don't own a Landcruiser you know plenty who do 2#Plenty of these as daily drive vehicles, see mums dropping kids off at school in troopys. A lot of tradesmen use traybacks instead of I assume an F truck or similair in the states. 3# Don't know the...

    For Fellow 70-Series Lovers

Ok, I'll get the camera out and have a play :) They turn Troopy's into all sorts here, even armoured cars for transporting money (into areas without bitumen) Sean

    For Fellow 70-Series Lovers

So gents, should I be really mean and go take some photos here? More than half the vehicles in town are Toyota 4wd's most of which are Landcruisers, with some Prado's and Hilux's all of which are diesel. It's quite strange to see you guys drooling over 7x Cruisers on here :) Sean

    Looking for a Good Swag

I'd go for a swag that doesn't need too many pegs beaten in to work, something you can just unrol and climb into drunk. A good feature is a flap to stand on to take your shoes off before climbing in, saves bringing sand in on your feet. Sean

You guys are going to hate me for this one! -Fridge Build

Looks like an older 39L model to me. If you have trouble gassing it up with R12, I've heard LPG will do the job better than R134a Sean

Found a use for the Honda EU1000 generator

We have one as a spare if the Inverter blows up. One day when I needed it, it wouldn't start. Turns out some wasps had decided the little exhause pipe was the perfect place to start a nest.... Sean

Draw bar w/shackle for recovery point

I personally don't approve of using the pin with a strap. The pin is designed to carry a load at its edges against the outside walls, whereas using a strap loads up the middle of the pin. IMHO it's a much better option to put the pin of a shackle through the hole for the towball. Sean

Expensive and time consuming Expo Rig

Here in aust it's not uncommon to see heaps of overcapitalised Landcruisers, Patrols, etc travelling out in the bush. Also not uncommon to see 20 year old Ford Falcon sedans on the same tracks on their way back to the indigenous community's from town. A work collegue of my father found out...

Rear tire carrier bumpers? Love em Hate em?

I love them, can't imagine why anyone wouldn't. We use twin Kaymar carriers on the back of all our troopies, and have the back area set up as a work space and desk. On a hot day I close the rear doors to help the aircon, and just leave the wheels in the open position (Kaymar have a locking...

    Fuel Range

In my experience, you need enough fuel to get to your next fuel-up in the worst possible conditions, and onto the next fuel-up, OR back to your previous fuel up (in the same bad conditions) should fuel not be available. My HJ-60 has a long range tank, and has at leat 1000km of range in mild...

38" Tyres on 78-Series LC, like Artic Trucks?

It's not about how a mod looks, it's a case of if it'd doing the job properly. You really need to consult an engineer before you buy these tires, they'll need a certificate to be legal (being oversize) and if you end up doing the arctic truck mods to fit them, they'll need engineering too...
