Seems unlikely, crack the hatch and load a ton of patio pavers and see how she does:) Not slighting Jeeps, but I'd guess that all the numbers cited are just manufacturer hype and maybe not even calculated the same way b/t companies.
A lot of the state forest roads in Central PA are groomed gravel. Let us know how well it drifts! I had a DR650 for a while but for offroad I would have preferred a 400. The 650 was too heavy to whip around.
I have these. I use (4) 2" bolts with heads cut off as alignment studs. The cover is so heavy, that it is difficult to hold in place and start the bolts without smearing the RTV beyond use. Mine say rock crusher, but the molds apear the same.
For your described use, I'd put in rear springs for the load you plan, and 2" spacers in the front. I would spend the rest of the money overhauling the cooling system. The stock cherokee set up is marginal for normal use.
