I've never driven a YJ, but I did drive a CJ for years and an Army M151A1 for years and learned to drive in a Willy's. All very capable solid vehicles.

Thought / idea / from experience and worth a try. Where the temp sensor attaches, sometimes there is a small pin leak around the threads. The leak will be so small and the engine heat will be enough that the coolant will burn off. It may be hard to see / detect. Set there and stare at it...
That!s the way to think of it, an adventure! The thing for me that takes the fun out of traveling is a tight schedule. Make sure you take some leave to add to your allowed travel time. Take your time and try to stay off the interstates. There is so much more to see and enjoy.

Love Colorado! It is beautiful and an Overlanders dream. Out west the right and properly maintained vehicle is an imparative. Can mean the difference of survival or not.
I really like the Eastern part of Indiana and Batesville. Batesville is a very nice community. I get over that way several times a year on my way to the Friendship Black Powder Shoots. Hope to run into you sometime. Let's get this Hoosier Overlander thing going.

I really like the TJ platform for Overlanding. I think it has the right combination of rugged utility and modern creature comforts. I drive a 2004 TJL. Perfect.... No. IMHO.... The best for me .... Yes.
And my 2¢'s worth is that it sounds like there are a lot of really great tires out there. The tire industry has responded very well to our Overlanding vehicle community needs. And as with any other piece of equipment there are trade offs and compromises.
