My CVT Summit series is some pretty thick aluminum (appearance is like diamond plate), but I still built out the front of my rack to help support it... just in case. Also did the table slide out, but its at the back.
I strapped a 4' level across my tire using a ratchet strap, the top of the level was through the centerline of the hub. Then I measured on either side of the level to the frame to get my caster aligned. For camber I placed the level up and down and used the bubble for alignment. Once you get...
The tongue on my trailer is WAY above 200 lbs. I'd say over 500 at least when its loaded up. But there is also a lot of extras (group 31 battery, 10 amp shore power charger, 15 gallons of fuel and 15 gallons of water, plus my RTT is a Summit series which adds about 100 lbs over the standard...
Yes, from a wrecker service. Mechanics use rollbacks and wrecker service companies to move their huge roll-around tool boxes all the time. Basically same thing I did but I didn't have casters on my crate when we did it.
Are you assuming you are getting a fully assembled trailer? If it was fully assembled it would all depend on "how big a boy are ya". Thing is tongue heavy. I'd say picking up the tongue to move it is not an option for most folks. Secondly, the jockey wheel it comes with sucks at best.
It was delivered as a crate to the local 4WP. Had a rollback pick it up and drop it off. Much easier than bringing a 18' car hauler and then trying to figure out how to get it off it. When it was delivered as a crate the casters where not on the crate. That being said I have the casters and...
I had mine hauled to the house on a rollback.. it was loaded onto the rollback with a forklift. Rollback backed up to the garage door opening and then tilted back, it then slide off onto some car dollies and I rolled it around the garage easy peasy.
Yes, I moved mine to the inside of the box.
That's basically exactly how I have mine configured. I wish they were stronger too, but I am thinking for Christmas I might get myself a Miller Spoolgun for my Multimatic 215 and then utilize some 3/4" or 1" aluminum sq tube and build an interior...
What are you planning to do with it? If you plan to hit tight trails I would not want anything sticking out so for that I would go with the second box. Also what are you planning to store in it? Tools and spare parts... first box all the way.
So far so good.. no issues. I don't/wouldn't stand on them, but for what I use them for they have been great. Little bit of fine dust seeped in during the last trip out but that's it.
Nice work! I was also thinking about adding a section of tube down the side to help support the tire pivot but also to give us a lot more surface to weld to.
I picked up this swingout bearing assembly a while back and its been just collecting dust in the garage. Plan is to use it...
