    Overland 1.8 RTT

Wow. I have drooled over that setup for YEARS! Seen that pic all over the interwebs. More pics at http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1097078

    Smittybilt Overland XL RTT-New product.

Don't you go bringing up your completely sensible opinions here! :D I believe the closest comparison to the Smitty, including size and features, is the Kukenam Sky. Both are listed as 600D ripstop polyester. In fact, I can find only 3 real differences: The Tepui has no-see-um mesh while...

I have a Smittybilt. It's the same as the other two, or close enough for me anyway. Never counted the straps...

Planning a restomod for a trailer my grandad built in 1955

Thanks! Anyone have a good link for a design on building a waterproof lid? I have lots of ideas but don't want to waste time reinventing the wheel.

Thank you members and why it pays to do your homework.

I understand the sentiment displayed by the rep at the first company, but not the animosity. Everyone wants the most for their money. As a craftsman myself, I understand the process of delivering a product the customers ask for, with a guarantee, and for the quoted price - end of story. I...

Planning a restomod for a trailer my grandad built in 1955

This trailer was originally constructed by my mom's father back in 1955. It had new lumber installed in about 1994 by my dad and uncle, and then my uncle used it around his ranch for the next 20 years. He passed away a couple years ago, and the trailer's been passed along to me. It hadn't...

Completed: DIY Harbor Freight Micro-Trailer w/ Jeep Wheels

I'd like to see a pic with the awning setup. Why did you put it on that side and not on the side where the lid opens?

    cb antenna mounting

How about making it really simple? A piece of flat steel could be shaped with basic hand tools and a bench vise. Drill a couple holes for bolts through the bulkhead and the mount, feed the bolts in with mechanical fingers...

    First Jeep

If I had been happy with the JKU (I wanted to be, badly, but wasn't), I would 100% have gotten the Ursa Minor J30 hard top. http://www.ursaminorvehicles.com/campers/jeep-camper.html

Suggestions for split loom tubing for under the hood/vehicle wiring that will last?

I've never had any issues with what I've gotten out of hardware stores like Lowe's or Home Depot. I've also found it to be significantly cheaper there than in parts stores.

    Differential Oil (04 TJ)

80w90 is fine for pretty much everything. I went to a little heavier oil when I put the Aussie locker in my XJ to try and keep things quiet so my wife didn't freak out when she drove it. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

What vehicles make the best Expedition platforms?

Reliability is the primary factor. Next is having either the factory options or aftermarket support to be able to build it how you need to. After that, the hard part seems to be finding the time to put it all to use...

    Smittybilt Overland XL RTT-New product.

I was sold on Tepui until finding the Smitty last year, which was almost an insta-buy. We have the smaller original version, of course. We'd wanted a RTT for years but were unsure of how much we'd actually get to use one. At the price point of the Smitty, we were finally willing to take a...

    Pint Glass for camping

I like the stainless pint cups. They are basically indestructible and I like having something that could be used to boil water in if it came down to that. I bought one from REI but lost it at work somewhere. A few months later, Klean Kanteen had a sale, so I bought a 4-pack. Haven't lost any...
