That is a good suggestion and something I should have considered! On the other hand, it's a Toyota with less than 200,000 miles, so all I've had to do to it was change the oil. If I had to do any real work to it, removal only involves one nut and one spade connector.
My wife and I have had our Smittybilt RTT for a year or so. I bought the cheapest one I could find just to see what I thought about them. Last year found me recovering from an arm surgery and my wife opening her own business, so we've not gotten out nearly as much as we wanted, but we've got...
Thank you! I would have been happy with either, but it's been a long time since I've loved a vehicle like I love our FJ. It's a weird, odd-looking, and uncommon vehicle. I relate to it personally. :wavey:
Absolutely.
I've had a 4x4 ever since I first started driving. I've had the wheeling bug ever since I first shifted a transfer case in that 85 S-10 almost 20 years ago. I went from it to an 87 Silverado and a 00 Jeep Cherokee. I've had other cars and trucks for DDs, but I've always had an adventure rig...
I disagree with the semantics here. Permanent is not a word that applies to most modifications. Usually, if it can be done, it can be undone.
Drilling holes in a fender for a snorkel makes the fender unusable otherwise, but a new fender is like $40 plus paint.
Nor does drilling a few holes...
Best way to change a gasket on a 3-piece, in my fettling experience:
Put the cap on tight
Take the machine screw out
Take the cap off
Take the inner section somewhere you can use fire, like on a brick or your mom's kitchen table
Use a torch to burn the old gasket to a crisp
Let the metal cool...
I'm in building construction and maintenance and have used a lot of different products over the years.
3m 4000 gets chalky after 5 or 6 years and is too thin for vertical applications. I used it for years to patch membrane roofs but only use OSI Quad now.
OSI Quad is UV stable and a great...
RTT manufacturers change stuff all the time and the photos presented aren't updated accordingly. Usually it's only minor things, like switching to a telescoping ladder from an extension ladder. I think I found instances of that on CVT's site. Tepui regularly changes the fabric colors. On...
It sounds like a joke, but learn phonics. That might not be how English was taught when or where you learned. You don't have to know a word to know how it is likely spelled.
It is possible to force an FJ into 4-low while in gear. Lesson learned: don't let other people drive your stuff. lol
But what I got out of the OP was. "When shifted into 4 low engine RPM's would rev to 2500-2800..." As in shifting to 4 low, bypassing neutral, caused the RPMs to rise.
