    2002 Tahoe "Expedition" build

Thanks for the compliment and apologies for the delay in a reply. I used some metal angle brackets that I fabbed up to bolt to both the roof rack frame and the underside of the rack itself. I also used hose clamps that I painted and then covered with heat shrink tubing. So far I am happy with...

    01-06 Suburban/Yukon XL 2500

Greetings - you may want to do some research on some GM / Chevy related forums for more detailed information. That said, the 2000 1/2 to 2002 and then 2003 to 2006 serve as "brackets" for the NBS style full size GM SUV's / pickup trucks. They all looked the same but the 2003 model year...

Accessing the computer on 01+ GM vehicles....or why I hate my new chevy

I have two different ways of reading code in my OBD / Computer equipped vehicles. I have a ScanGauge 2 permanently mounted in my 2002 Tahoe. Anytime the computer throws a code with "service engine light" the ScanGauge will tell me what the code is, and ask if I wish to delete it. The SG2 is...

Big Suburban for a Big Texan

Nice Suburban and good job working up your console ideas. I bought a used police center console (Troy or Gamber Johnson, can't remember....) for my radio install, I appreciate the work you are doing to make your own. As for the custom switches you are looking for have you tried these folks yet...

    Urban Suburban 1989 GMC Build

Great project, I got to drive that body style a good bit back when they were new. Loved them then, and the feeling has remained. Subscribing, looking forward to more! :lurk:

High mileage Tahoe. Should I pass?

If he can back up his maintenance claims a bit of bartering for a lower price could be a good deal. Only other big thing to worry about would be brake lines. Already had mine rupture at 92K, replaced the whole set two weeks ago. Treat the engine well and it should last you the 2 years you...

How many miles is too many?

Two thumbs up for a great find. I would say you didn't lower your standards at all. Good looking rig, I would have bought that body style myself if I had not found my 2002, and your list of "goodies" sounds great. :smiley_drive: Drive it, use it some, then figure out any mods you may want to do.

2006 Expedition Expedition. My truck as 'expedition' written all over it

I had a 2005 Expedition as a work truck for about 7 years, developed a hate - hate relationship with it as the 5.4 ate coil packs like candy and was a real shop hog. Now, that said, I really like what you have done with your rig and had I been able to outfit my truck like you have done thus...

Called to Creation Expedition Report: Scout Out Colorado 2014

Really thoroughly enjoying this. Good writeup and great photos. Seems like your group had enough mechanical problems for a year's worth of travel. Eeek!

    "RDV" Rapid Deployment Vehicle"

I keep my camping gear stored in my rig at all times, I have a small house so it is an ideal place to keep it. I figure if SHTF I could grab my go bag of clothes, food, and spare gas cans in very short order and be rolling out. Thankfully I live in the suburbs and have access to a dozen ways out...

    2002 Tahoe "Expedition" build

Thanks for the kind words fellas. No trips since the overhaul - I sank much of my fun money into the rig and am currently saving back up to try and take some sort of trip this summer. I did get the chance to go out and play in the snow this winter and got a nice pic down at one of the state...

    Fullsize SUV interior setups

I can not speak as to a comparison of sleeping inside a pickup truck cap vs. sleeping inside an SUV because all of my experience is inside an SUV. I do think you are on the right track of reasoning. Your height should help you with deciding Suburban length, or Tahoe length. I am 6'5" and can...

    Our Dual-Sport GMC Sierra

"Chaos" I just now found your build thread. Great job on your rig, I do admire your fabrication skills. Very much looking forward to seeing how your rear bumper turns out. A few observations for you: The ARB is a great choice, I can confirm it will do just fine against deer. I hit one last...

    Expedition TrailBlazer Project

Superb work, as ever James. I don't know if they make them for your TB or not, but I just got RareParts tie rod ends for my Tahoe and they are over engineered close to the level of your new UCAs. Significant improvement in my front end after having them installed.
