I've left the Toyota Fold, AKA my Montero Build Thread

I'd leave the front. Taking the rear off is fine but you'll probably notice some more body roll. I hardly notice it but my last truck didn't have swaybars either. My buddy rode in and commented about the amount of body roll. I'll be sure and post up once I get my bumpstops installed.

I've left the Toyota Fold, AKA my Montero Build Thread

I do have the manual, thanks. I didn't know about that bin under the passenger seat for a solid month after I bought it. That's where I had the owner's manual and a TON of receipts for work done. I was pretty stoked to see all that stuff.

I use a screwdriver as a lever to tighten the cap down on my Blitz can. In all fairness, I'm out less than one of those super nice Scepter cans for both my blitz can AND the mount we made. For me, its a fair trade.

I've left the Toyota Fold, AKA my Montero Build Thread

Its time for another of my far too spread out updates! Last weekend I attended the Long Beach Grand Prix and got some fabbing done with the help of CYi5 and his excellent welding skills. Unfortunately my cutting skills don't quite match up, but at least my new gas can holder is strong, if not...

    Gen 1 Montero Stock Radio

I still have the stock radio from my 1996 Montero if you want it. I replaced it with a single DIN aftermarket one to make room below it for my HAM radio.

    I think OP has a 95 SR :)

    Found a dead cat....lets beat it!...Tires?

I wouldn't worry about straining the drivetrain with 33s. The axles can handle 37s (supposedly) so 33s are no problem.

Need vehicle suggestions for around $3000

Oh, I thought the front diff was bigger too.

Need vehicle suggestions for around $3000

The one problem with manual gen II monteros is that you can't get the locker with it. The SR trim (bigger axles, bigger motor, locking diff) was automatic only.

Nope, the one actuator controls all four locks.

I've left the Toyota Fold, AKA my Montero Build Thread

Who has two thumbs and just fixed his door locks? This guy! They've been bothering me since I bought my rig like a year ago so I'm pretty stoked to have them working correctly again. Both of the stops inside the actuator were destroyed so it would be very frustrating to try and unlock it...

    CYi5's '99 4Runner Buildup

It wasn't too bad doing the swap on my old pickup. Just snip the battery wire, crimp on a nice new connector and stick it on the new terminal's stud. Easy peasy.

I followed a Highland down Lippencott Pass my last trip through Death Valley. I was even nice enough to pick up the pieces that were torn off :)

    Airing Up

Add me to the MV-50 list. Mine's been flawless for a couple years now. And if it does fail in a year, buy another one for $50 more. You'll still be $100 up on that Viar compressor.

Thanks. Its very much a work in progress. Does anyone know the thread pitch and bolt size for the rear bumpstop bolts by chance? This is very relevant to my next little project...
