15' Ram 2500 - Carli vs AEV vs Misc

We did the first AEV non factory lift on a RAM early this year. The kit is very impressive and performs very well on and off road. We like AEV products as they perform above expectations and they fit right out of the box. The AEV product are well engineered, well made, and achieve the required...

    Small/light off road trailers.

George, the simple answer to your questions is vehicles and trailers start to fall apart when you take them off-road, the biggest offender is wash board roads, they will vibrate almost anything to death. Add to that the occasional obstacle that happens to be in the way, and the drop off you...

Any suggestions for a single solar panel, 12v system, 100+ watts

I too would recommend the Go-Power Overlander Solar Kit 160 watt panel. The great thing about this product is it continues to provide good amperage in low sunlight, clouds, early morning, late afternoon, dappled sunlight etc. We have tested various panels and they all provide good power in...

    Idle Voltage Question

If your amperage draw was less than the alternator output, then it sounds like you had some issue with the voltage regulator. If you can't replicate it you have to hope it was a one off occurrence.

leaving Indel B 51L fridge plugged in vehicle

To be safe I would put in a Low Voltage Disconnect between the main starter battery and the 12 volt socket that the fridge will be running off. We sell a LVD that has an adjustable cut off point, so you could set the cut off at 11.5 volts and still have plenty of power to start the vehicle...

Multi axis coupler & trailer roll over?

A few thoughts for you. Trailer roll overs are the exception, but they are dramatic when they occur and people like to talk about them. The result is people think they happen all the time. From experience we can tell you that AT Trailers have been over the Rubicon Trail with multi axis...

Multi axis coupler & trailer roll over?

There are a few ways to think about the multi axis coupler. 1) It allows articulation beyond that of a ball coupler without risking becoming detached. 2) It allows the trailer to roll over when a more solid connection may cause the vehicle to also roll, (think off camber situations). Roll...

    Frame Steel Tube Inner Rust

Hot dip Galvanizing would be the best solution, it's a little more complicated as the frame has already been made and has started rusting. You also have to build in expansion holes and fill holes in the chassis to allow the expanding gases to escape and the molten zinc to drain. Beyond that, as...

    Trailer Stuff at SEMA 2015

Really doesn't matter who's trailer it is, SEMA isn't able follow their own rules if Shutt doesn't have a booth inside. I don't begrudge anyone wanting to display a vehicle outside at SEMA, I just think the rules should be enforced universally or not at all.

    Srpay in expanding insulation?

We insulated the cavities on a van using foam. The flat panels we insulated with styrofoam sheets. Worked out very well. I initially looked at the two part kits but after looking at the volumes required and the difficulty getting a kit of the right size I decided upon cans of insulating foam. A...

    Trailer Stuff at SEMA 2015

Interesting to see the Xventure Trailer being exhibited. We had a long standing argument with SEMA regarding exhibiting AT trailers at the show, they insisted that as a manufacturer we should have a booth inside to qualify for exhibiting a trailer outside. We argued that the trailer was a...
