N.A. Diesel in North American Series Trucks?

The diesel 2.25 was discontinued for the US market after 1967. The NADA six cylinder 109 was a 1967 only edition as well. From 1968-1974 the only engine available in Series trucks in North America was the 2.25 liter 4 cylinder gasoline motor.

Say Hello to Garth - 1973 Series III

Hand brake is on the rear output of the transfer case - all mechanical linkage to actuate it. Lift the cover between the two front seats in the seat base and you can see the drum and cross bar linkage. The shoes are probably soaked with EP90 due to a leaking oil seal at the output shaft. There...

Anyone know the official name of this Series paint color?

That's definitely not limestone - limestone is more of an ivory white in the early trucks. Since that is a Series II or early IIA (pre 1965 by the dash) I'd guess its a sand beige. The 1959-63 SII's came in some colors like mid-grey that were never seen on the later models. This Land Rover has...

N.A. Diesel in North American Series Trucks?

I've owned a 1966 diesel 109 station wagon since 1978 - it has over 375,000 miles on it. I rebuilt the engine at around 200,000. It has the original 2.25 liter diesel engine and a Fairey overdrive. Max speed is around 68 mph but its a LOT more comfortable at 55-60. It will get around 25 mpg at...

    Old Rovers Too Feeble?

I've logged hundreds of thousands of miles in Series Land Rovers and owned around ten of them. I like the way they make you slow your pace down to adapt to the vehicle - you tend to enjoy the journey a little more and pay more attention to the world going by your windows. They encourage you to...

Moving from a JKU to and LR3?

I just joined the LR3 owners ranks too - after 16 or 17 Land Rovers of various types over the years I made the decision to add a fourth Land Rover to the driveway to replace a somewhat boring Honda CR-V. The comfort and towing capacity were factors in the decision as well as reports of vastly...

    daily driver...what to get

You can buy a pretty decent used Boxster for under $20,000 - I've found through years of careful experimentation that a combination of Land Rovers and Porsches makes a good mix.

Talk me into or out of a LR3

I won't try to talk you out of it because I just bought one myself last Thursday - a 2007 LR3 HSE in Expedition White. I'd been looking at them for a while myself and when they finally depreciated into the affordable zone I jumped on the band wagon. There are some pretty good videos on line...

Camera Straps: What do you use?

I was lucky enough to get one of the very last Luma Loop straps made before they shut down production due to Black Rapid being awarded a patent for their sling type strap. Although the two are similar, the Luma Loop was superior in the attachment hardware and craftsmanship and it works very well...

The right color combination (I don't like beige interiors) and a reasonable price - $16,800 - with 86.000 miles. I couldn't find a white one with the black interior locally and the flight to St Louis was only $75. The dealer filled my tank so it only cost me a few hours and another $60 in...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

Just got home very late last night from St Louis with my new-to-me 2007 LR3 HSE - white with black interior. Great road car - I spent 12 hours behind the wheel with no discomfort. Averaged a little over 18.3 mpg on the 600 mile trip home - now if I can just figure out how to work everything...

    Tent bags

Pelican 1650 case - no elaborate folding techniques required plus its waterproof (to keep tent dry on the way out - keep everthing else dry on the way back if you've had a wet weekend). Eureka Drawtite expo tent

GREAT classic tent - heavy and bulky but a real classic. I used to have an eight man version of the Drawtite - you could park a small car in it. My sister borrowed it and lived in it for a summer down by a river outside of Athens, Georgia until it got washed away in a flood. I'm still pissed...
