I have had a few trivial items stolen out from under the soft top of my Wrangler in the last 10 years.........IMHO putting locks on a soft topped rig is futile attempt at best. Its too easy to just unzip or pull out out a window if that takes too much effort they will just slash it. I have...
Wish you were closer and were doing a cage from 1.75 tubing, I have a bender you would be more than welcome to use......
I hope I can get work off for EJS and maybe get a peek at your rig! I just put a deposit down on a new body kit to get my body coming from overseas..........its a bad...
Man looks schweet with some tires and sitting on its own weight! :Wow1: The worn and vintage body, low slung body and tires really reminds me of Soni Honeggers flatty. I remember drooling over it in the 4x4 mags......quite possibly my favorite Jeep of all times. I can say that your rig keeps...
In utah you cant go wrong with Henderson Wheel or State Trailer supply......all up and down the Wasatch front and either company can set you up with the axle you need. They do custom ones all the time. Online might not be all that much cheaper due to shipping vs being local.
FWIW when I worked...
I have run both and steel wheels on several rigs in the past.........haven't noticed a change in MPG that's been measurable. I ran some borrowed DIY beadlock wheels on a 4cylinder YJ (heavy wheels!:Wow1: gutless engine:sombrero:) and then put back on my AL wheels. The MPG changed something like...
I coudln't agree more about just buying a new tub and doing it "right". After spending a few hours looking at a stock tub there were a lot of little disadvantages to a stock tub. Such as the captured nuts, drilled holes and a few minor details are in the wrong spot. As far as the bodywork goes...
Pic of my old Grand Cherokee getting flexed upon:
My fenders were strait when I started the day........the yellow Jeep smooooshed them up a tad :sombrero:
(From time to time I miss playing on the rocks and the old trail slut)
I like the idea. Cut my Jeep in half and you more or less have the same set up, albeit not as tall. Which I think is a good thing in the wind, although you cant have a changing room. I gave up on my changing room. It took too long to set up, flapped in the wind and I hardly ever used it.
I...
Where in Utah are you heading? I only ask because I am a local Utard living out on the road (or semi-homeless by choice, take your pick).....depending where your planning on staying I might be able to find you and your son a free place to stay at the mouth of the local canyons.....(maybe a PM...
Seems like you have a good idea of what you want. Its doable
I thought of taking a tent like this:
Mounting it to a hinged base a-la-roof top tent. After all essentially that is all a RTT is......but then I fount a used RTT that was in good shape and I am glad I didn't. After having had one...
That is good news to hear! At that pricing I would love to snatch one up! (job/ budget permitting) A thousandish for a DIY kit with no super difficult fabrication is a pretty amazing feat.
The HF trailer is a good foundation in my opinion. Sure a big old beefy frame would be stronger and...
I dont own one but I would seriously consider one when I wear out/ outgrow my current rig. For my uses it will get me 95% of the places I want to explore. A lift and some slightly bigger tires, maybe some skidplates/ sliders and it would be good to go. I spent 45 or so days this summer camping...
I have a few pictures of my set up deployed.......although I cant find any with the kitchen/ storage slide out in them. Here are a few from this summer. I have spent 45+ nights this year with this set up. Just seeing these pictures makes me wish I was living back out on the trails again...
Well since you have been posting over on my thread I will quit lurking and throw my $0.02 in:;)
I like the cage design. Its simple and has lines that are similar to the old fashioned fender mounted type "roll bars". I like that you angled the C-pillar in at the rear. It adds a touch of lateral...
x2 Easy to do, luckily mine only contains one user...........Sorry BlackZJ, you are a nice guy in person, but your online persona comes across as a class A jack ************/ ignorant hillbilly! And I think it is starting to annoy a lot of folks including me!
Back to the subject at hand:
My vote is...
Interesting product. I wonder if they will be like most of the CARB compliant plastic cans out there? The last two I have used were ventless, "glugged" and causing me to spill gas allover the place.
I have heard the same thing.....however I dont totally believe it. Everyday you seem to hear on the news "A new study finds XX" then a few weeks later one comes out saying the contrary.

Not to hijack a thread but what ever happened with this tub? I was following it on pirate several years ago on irate4x4 (2009 or 2010) and if memory serves me not much happened after the two tubs were welded together.........update, perhaps via PM so not to disturb this thread?
