    Sierra Challenge 2020

Been trying to post more pics but the forum keeps saying they're too large, as far as carnage just a Gen 3 balljoint tearing off the control arm (cheap part not properly torqued) which i fixed on the trail in like 10 minutes. Not sure if i can count my 4 tires that i lost to this trip or not.

    SAS info and parts thread

Probably 10-15% Jeep now because i have a New Process 241OR T-case from a Jeep Rubicon and a Spicer 44 axle housing from an AMC Jeep Wagoneer. The T-case isn't staying though, I'm going to build an underdriven Bronco Dana 20 to replace it with. Then I'll have a higher % of Ford parts.

    Pajero Rear Door Weight Limit?

I've had a 35" or 37" tire on my rear door and lots of off-road miles and the only thing to wear out was the foam door gasket. I have adjusted the door once to close tighter due to said gasket. Montero rear doors are sort of tougher than most but i like the thing shovel posted.

1997-2000 Full Size Montero Owners - Help us help you

So the rear center line most of us use comes from the leaf sprung Gen 1 Montero for extra length. The stock length on my '98 and my '99 is 10" even from mounting flange to flange (not counting past the spring clip)

Montero Limited Stuck in Low Range (4LLC) - Help!

if i had kept my gen 3 i was planning on installing the manual shifter from an XLS, keep an eye out for those as these electric shift units won't become more reliable.

1st Gen Montero Transfer Case Strength?

They're pretty stout, standard gearing too instead of planetary. It will bolt up to the ax-15, there are a couple done in south america but pictures are scarce. I think it's a good idea if you can build the backing plate and spud shaft yourself.

    No good mechanics

That just happens on those, try pulling the cluster off and putting it back on once. Sometimes that works to get you by while you order the new chip.

    The old 1999 build thread

Just weeks before we head out to the Sierras the truck breaks a spring, never had a spring snap like that. It'll be interesting to see what I come up with.

    SAS info and parts thread

Installed an off-road sway bar, need to adjust it a little but it makes a huge difference! I also upgraded to EMF rod ends which really made a positive difference in steering feel over the poly bushings that would wear out every trip. I also bent the Wagoneer pitman arm and replaced it with a...

If you have no preference between aluminum or steel i'm guessing maybe you don't have even the stock skid plates?

Lunchbox Locker for ‘94 LS Montero?

You're wanting a rear? Just buy an SR axle with an air locker, cheaper, easier and stronger. The fronts are available in a lunchbox variety.

Gen 2 SR Engine Swap Options

Diesel swap (correct engine for chassis (4M40) is much easier than a gas swap from a different platform, the diesel is a drop in for the most part and it needs minimal wiring for gauges and fuel cutoff. I recall 10ish wires. One could do a diesel swap in a day if he/she had all of the parts, the...

    Gen 2.5: Diamante engine swap?

These engines are very different, unlike the Gen 1 3.0 and early Diamante 3.0 which are largely the same. The Diamante 3.5 would need everything swapped over, bosses tapped and distributor addressed (yes they still ran a dizzy). There are way easier swaps, late model Sports are plentiful and...
