    Gen 2.5 3.8 Swap

So Evo Scan or a tune would be necessary, i believe Edward had a similiar issue going from 24v 3.0 to 3.5.

    Gen 2.5 3.8 Swap

3.5 ecu fuel trim is not quite enough for the 3.8. A guy here did the (plug and play) swap and it worked great for the short term. The 3.8 later burned its valves, I'm guessing it ran really lean.

    Thoughts on Selling my Sport

clmrt, glad someone else has similar feelings with the Gen 3. I'd trade mine for a low milage one owner 1999-2000 Montero in an instant, but those are more rare than my one owner 2005.

    Thoughts on Selling my Sport

Having owned every type and generation of Montero available stateside (and one import) and one coil sprung Montero Sport I'll say the Gen 2/2.5 is hard to beat by a lot. A nice well maintained Gen 2 is near impossible to get, Still some good Gen 3's out there though. I'm probably going to sell...

Yeah, they don't actually fit a Gen 2 Montero. Having them on my truck is misleading.

    The don't tread build thread

35's are pretty nice with a 2" lift dude. The ticking is the lifters they put in those trucks, they updated them later. The only way to fix it is to buy the new lifters, or just live with it. Drive it really hard with good clean high detergent oil or full synthetic MIGHT quiet it down.
