    2M Antenna Recommendations?

I have the UV5R. I ended up getting an SMC to BNC converter, then ordered a mag mount antenna that I put up when I'm on the trail. I can hear everyone in my group well, and everyone can hear me on my little 5w HT without any problems. The connector was 5-10 bucks (be sure to get the proper...

    Working on my setup

my first though, that sucks... I dislike crims (criminals) second thought... will it still beacon APRS :coffeedrink:, case closed if so :-) (I'm guessing not, because the GPS and Radio units are separate and would both need to be turned on at the same time) --edit-- looked at pictures of...

    Connecting with the Montero

I would be surprised if you are running on any paved roads with that much of a grade that you would need to go down to 4L. I agree, putting the shift selector in 1 does provide better engine braking. 4L+1 = best engine braking (short of turning the engine off) Paved roads + locked diffs are...

gen 2/2.5 rear cargo plug question

No clue... take a look at the wiring feeding the plug. Assuming the wiring is the same gauge back to the battery, you can probably figure out what the max amp rating on DC would be for that gauge of wire. Perhaps also look at what fuse is feeding it, you won't be able to go past that amp rating.

Doing Headgaskets and timing belt - what else?

You may want to also do the valve seals. Much easier to do with the heads off and on a bench. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    1995 montero sr reliability

I picked up a '99 that needed valve seals. It isn't an expensive job if you DIY, but you'll need the right tool to compress the springs. A set of valve seals is under $50 IIRC. The tool you want you can rent from someone on 4x4wire, for like 50 bucks. It will take you a really long time...

Tried to SMOG the truck, passes pipe but system says its "not ready"

I remember at the smog check last year the guy told me CA was tightening the belt on the statuses. Before you could have 1 of 3 not ready and be able to pass, but soon all have to be ready. I was getting the not-ready codes due to a month long head gasket/timing belt/water pump/valve seal...

    1998 4Runner (L.A.M.B.) is officially for sale

@bikerjosh, if you need the driveway space, you can park it at my place. Then you'll have a rig ready to go down south. You fly down from SFO, $100 bucks round trip give or take and I can pick you up from the airport. I'm guessing that after a 3-4 day stint in DVNP it's worth $100 to avoid the...

99 Mitsubishi Montero Build and Q.

welcome! I too have a '99. You'll want to check out 4x4wire.com, they have a very active montero community there. Also, look to mitsubishilinks.com for some other really great documentation. I don't know if the engines are the same, but I would think that if the engine model code is the same...
