3500 RAM Prospector + Alu Cabin + Custom Bed

The half canopy with tray looks very appealing to me, but not sure how it would work for you if you plan a cap camper? I love the idea of having that big locking box storage, plus having open bed space for dirty items, a dirt bike, etc.

3500 RAM Prospector + Alu Cabin + Custom Bed

My point is that there are dramatic enough differences between a Taco and a Ram HD that just because one brand performed well one one style of truck, doesn't mean it will on every style. You may find that the Bilsetin shocks work well for your application, I haven't run them on the Ram HD but I...

3500 RAM Prospector + Alu Cabin + Custom Bed

I've not watched that video, but it appears their discussion is largely around a Taco? A Taco has about as much in common with a solid axle Diesel 3500 as a BMW 3 series. Again, I don't have a breakdown with a bunch of testing, I've not owned Bilstein shocks on a truck for quite some time. I...

3500 RAM Prospector + Alu Cabin + Custom Bed

Truth be told I can't stand Bilstein shocks, so I don't think my input would be good here. I think as you get to a larger shock King is "king" and Fox is a valid alternative. I've heard good things about Icon from the toyota crowd, but I've got no direct experience with them myself. Well...

3500 RAM Prospector + Alu Cabin + Custom Bed

I've said this before, and I'll say it again, the AEV suspension is not the best bet for these trucks. If your goal is to run 37s max, then you don't need to lift 3" front and 2" rear with the stock coils/leafs, you just don't have enough travel on those to justify needing any extra height. You...

3500 RAM Prospector + Alu Cabin + Custom Bed

I contacted RSI and they told me that their BRS (Bed Replacement System) is going to come out for the Tacoma mid 2024, and I've seen pictures of one on a Gladiator, so my expectation would be both come out together, or Taco followed by Glady. I had asked about plans for Ram HD, and they said...

3500 RAM Prospector + Alu Cabin + Custom Bed

The whole tray thing is starting to hit hard stateside, so there are both conus and oconus options. Bowen makes some really high quality looking stuff. OZ land has Norweld and MITS Alloy stateside. Nuthouse Industries and SET overland exist, but both may be a hair more "commercial" than you're...

Turns out I need a real truck. Kindly help me choose one!

I'd straight up steer away. I've never had a great experience from a horrible dealer, but I have had horrible experiences from horrible dealers. As others have mentioned about getting out and enjoying before you go full bore, I think it's for sure valid, so I wouldn't stress too much over...

Turns out I need a real truck. Kindly help me choose one!

I bought my truck pre-covid, and it was a leftover. I ended up paying 60k out the door for a 72k msrp truck. While not the best discount, with the difference in airfare and fuel to get home, plus the time, it was a good deal. Even with current market conditions being a bit more than pre-covid, I...

LED headlights are increadibly easy to add yourself. You pull a few plastic tabs, pop 2 painted trim pieces on the front, maybe 10-15 bolts, and install. I believe you add a small wiring harness if it's OEM that is plug and play, or if you go aftermarket I think it's strictly plug and play...

I'd strongly consider looking at Mark Dodge, Dave Smith, or even Granger. Most likely, even with the flight there and drive back, you'll end up thousands ahead vs buying local. At this point, you shouldn't be paying anything close to MSRP for these trucks.

For what it's worth, I am running 37s on AEV wheels and I didn't have to trim my bumper at all. My buddy is also running the same. Stock bumpers on both, 0 trimming to the bumper. If you like the look and want to run the winch, then by all means, but it's not strictly necessary.

While these numbers look pretty accurate, I'll call out that the Hemi makes that torque @ 4,000 rpm, where as the Cummins makes it's torque @ 1,700 rpm. Obviously, torque curves being different and all that, you'd need to find apples to apples dyno sheets or manufacture provided data, the...

    Flemster's 22 Ram 3500 Build - Sherpa Edition

@Sherpa_Flemster, I know this isn't about your buddies rig, but curious if you and your buddy with the mitts tray have done the pro/con on that tray setup. Past the cost, any downside?

2021 RAM 3500 Tradesman | AEV Prospector | FWC Grandby

Jocko is a bit much most of the time, but I've gotta say his book Extreme Ownership is amazing. I've listen to it twice, and have read it every other year since it came out. Really changed my perspective on things.

    I'm BACK!!! 2023 F-250 Tremor build

The best part about the new GX is that it's not a forced hybrid option, I dig that. I also feel you on the dogs, those fluffers take up a lot of space. I'm very interested to hear about your ongoing experience with the SD vs the Ram platform since you've had at least 2 since I've been chatting...

Tex, I wish you the best of luck with this new build. What made you want to get rid of the LC? Those 200 series are seriously awesome rigs.

    Flemster's 22 Ram 3500 Build - Sherpa Edition

Oh, yeah. I'll fully admit that may be an issue, but the number of times that actually happens is so so so exceptionally small. That grid heater bolt thing has been discussed to death for a decade or more at this point.

    Flemster's 22 Ram 3500 Build - Sherpa Edition

To be fair, the trans issue was due to a snap ring that affected only the Aisin and only for a few months of production. It's really sad for sure, but it's also a small blimp. I haven't heard of any specific engine issues with the 22s, although I know there have been issues with the hydraulic...

How long does it take a water tank to freeze?

@Duredel, I don't have any practical help here, but I do have some potential solutions. As others have said, depending on if you're routing the water inside or not, keeping that connection insulated is an important factor as that water line will freeze way before the container. There may be...
