Nullifier, you mentioned using a roof tent in another post but you were concerned about carrying your canoe. I had an idea a while back that I would love to see put into practice :) You could put a rack on top of the cab, that would support the weight of your canoe, with a turnstyle "lazy...

    A 2004 Tacoma grows up

Wow - I like all the new stuff since the last time I saw it! Very well rounded! I love those Maggiolinas - very cool. FYI - it is my understanding that you can use a drill motor to make cranking the tent up as easy as pie - might be a cool trick for you since you probably have a drill motor in...

FZJ80 and Tacoma. Evaluating the choice

10 days? How about 4 months? :) It definitely boils down to personal preference. One advantage of the xcab vs. dcab is the weight difference. The additional cab space and associated sheetmetal, doors, glass, trimmings, etc. add almost 700 lbs. of weight that could otherwise be used for mods...

    Buy a good tent!

Cool! I was wondering how those were. I like the fast setup. How is condensation with it? JH, I saw an advertisement in Adventure Sports magazine for Hilleberg Tentmakers These look like fantastic tents and remind me a bit of the Stephenson models. Did you by any chance get to try one of...

FZJ80 and Tacoma. Evaluating the choice

124,000 currently, and in excellent condition. The tenacity and durability of this truck, after all of the trips (whoa - man, now that I think about it... it is a LOT of trips!!) I am amazed. Yea, I know it is a Toyota and all, but I am still AMAZED. :Wow1: Great truck!

Thoughts on All Pro's Taco Susp.?

If you look through all of the archives at the various Tacoma forums, you will see that there can be a lot of "issues" with drop-bracket lifts. I also have no desire to lift a Tacoma that much. I think that 32" or 33" tires can be achieved with less than 3" of lift (but 33's will require...

FZJ80 and Tacoma. Evaluating the choice

I have not owned an 80 series TLC, only a Tacoma. I have driven my friend Jack's 80, and I LOVED it. I definitely enjoyed reading the posts above! Very informative and thought provoking comparisons. :ylsmoke:

    tacoma suspension up grades

Oh yea, you may already be aware of these issues, but I will post for anyone who may be reading this: 95-04 Tacoma suspension upgrade - "hidden mods" 1. Brake Proportioning valve 2. E-brake cable contacting thicker leaf packs, and Extending Rear Brake Line 3. More rear axle travel can...

    tacoma suspension up grades

Getting back to the coilover/arms issue, I think by just disconnecting or removing the swaybar, you will be getting the most travel out of the IFS while still maintaining a reasonable amount of CV joint integrity. Regarding Bilsteins, I too have used them on a few different vehicles and like...

    tacoma suspension up grades

I agree with Scott on the uni-ball arms. I think the money is much better spent on something else. Having manual hubs alleviates that a little bit, but not much. I also agree with Scott on the orbit eyes. However - Scott recommends a 9-leaf pack. I think that should depend on what the weight of...

    Power System Requirements: Determining Capacity

ME TOO! I don't dispute the cost challenge. But how about surface area - you don't care for my prior idea of portable panels that would stow under the tent? It would allow you to park the truck in the shade, and prop the panels into maximum sunlight for a multitude of scenarios.
